Blade grip arm issue

New build issue with my blade grips (happened on both grips), when tightening down the two blade grip arm bolts, outer 6mm bolt does not tighten properly, in fact it took out the threads. I did not even have a chance to torque the bolt, please advise as to what I should do next.

There is a long and a short screw. The short screw needs to go on the outside. Did you possibly switch the two screws?

I used the short screw on the outside as per the manual, if the long one was used on the outside it would bottom out against the thrust washer inside the grip.

Almost seems like the aluminum is "soft" and the threads stripped easy, or the hole was drilled a little oversized leaving a shallow thread. not sure....

I can bet you money the holes are good, I have seen this happen numerous times, not being a product issue. Don't know how you installed them, I have seen guys tighten the bolts with the blade grip arm not firmly seated to the blade grip. And you did correct by noticing and placing the correct bolts (length) in there correct positions. You would be surprised how many times that has happened. The aluminum is soft however not to a fault. This is a critical step especially the installation and torque of the short fastner. You gotta know how tight is to tight and how loose is loose. You can ring one out easily. What was it like when you removed the fasteners to clean and locktite them in? I always make sure the grip arm is firmly seated and both fasteners are started (finger tight at the same time, not tightening one and then the other. Thanks for the response, you are very clear in your explanation.
After I cleaned off the loctite on the bolt(I ran the bolt thru my 3mm die) I re-insrted it into the blade grip and I have lost the threads.
The bolt just turns in the hole now.
For safety reasons I am thinking about replacing with new grips, however, could I try JB weld First?
I don't expect to take the arms off anytime soon, and if I crash I'll probably replace the entire grip.
What's your thought on This?

Brother , I would highly not recommend that, unfortunately you need to invest in a new set of grips. I can assure you if you did JB weld them they will fail and you will spend a lot more in replacement cost, not to mention the danger you put yourself in as well as others. I know it's a bit of a set back, but you will be rewarded in the long run. Let us know if there is anything else you need help with. And lastly just for kicks, order new bolts for the grip arms just to be safe. I am super anal when it comes to stuff like this, and that's what I would do if it were mine.. 💪🕶

I did hover my Heli after the initial build last November before the snow fell.

Just need to confirm the depth of the smaller bolt after it passes thru the arm and into the grip.
I have reason to believe the outer countersink on the arm may not be deep enough.
Depth of bolt after it goes thru arm is 2.38mm or 4 threads, does this measurement sound Correct?
I am questioning this part first because if I purchase new grips and try to re assemble then I am going to have the same issues all over again.

That measurement is actually correct. I will verify with a caliper tomorrow but I can assure you  Looking at your picture it is correct length. I know this may come as a surprise but it you look at the blade grip and the threaded hole you can expect to see roughly 3-4 threads before you see the OD of the bearing. This aluminum is in fact soft however very strong and it honestly doesn't take any effort at all to strip this bolt out during the assembly process. In my early days building my first N5 and converting it to FBL head, I actually stripped one, and being a full scale heli mechanic, I understand torques very well but honestly just screwed it up. Lol this is typically not a warranty item because everyone is different in there building abilities and what's tight to one guy, may not be tight enough to another. I've built probably 50-60 Helis for myself , and others, even Matt and I know with experience what is tight enough but not so tight I risk compromising the part. Now with that being said, I believe I have an extra blade grip and would be more than happy to mail it to you and get you airborn. Just make sure you change the bolt as well. Thanks for the offer but I ended up drilling and re-tapping the holes on both of my grips, I went 3.5mm
worked great.
