Stretch to 626: Please provide advice on my shopping cart.
« on: August 12, 2017, 07:53:36 PM »
Just picked up a used E5 airframe and will be running with the following:

Protek 250T cyclics
Futaba Tail servo
PHOENIX EDGE HV 120
Scorpino 4035-560
Ikon 2.

I would like to stretch this to a 626.

First question, do I need to get an external BEC for the Phoenix ESC?

Second question, I've got the following in my cart.  Do I need anything else?

Rail 96 tails
Rail 626 main blades
54T Spur gear (320-154)
12T Spur gear (320-112H)
E5s 626mm Stretch Kit

Thanks in advance!

The CC EDGE 120 HV does NOT have an internal BEC.

Yes I see that. So is one required externally?

Assuming the Protek 250T cyclic servos are HV, you have a few options.  One option is to use an external BEC; there are a bunch of flavors.  Another option is to use a 2S LiPo.

It is mid 2017, so you now have a several 12S capable ESC with robust internal ESC options.  Modern ESC's with robust internal BECs may be financially cheaper than purchasing separate CC EDGE 120 HV ESC and external BEC and wiring is much cleaner.

Yes, with the Edge. The Talon 120HV has an internal BEC.

I looked at what comes in the kit, and I did stretch mine a while back ago................I'd get new torque tube bearings.  The plastic piece you should be able to get off the old tube, if you pull it apart, otherwise I'd order those as well and the o rings. Also, you should be able to get the torque tube ends out, but if not, you can order some new ones with the bolts that hold them in.

108-814 - bearing
320-503 - torque tube bearing housing
320-504 - o ring

This is only because your model is already built.  If it was a new kit that you were assembling, then the kit would be good enough.

Hope that helps.   :)

U also need the shrink tubes for the control rod for the tail. I believe they are not in the stretchkit.

E5s  on page 3 i used the 626 blades, and tt ends do not come in the kit, or you could reuse but i got new ones. i have the E5 boom, and tt, so if i ever want to switch back i have everything ready to go. I really like it as a e5s with the 626 blades  i really like doing autos. Im running 2 3700mah batteries. Have all most 1500 flights. love these synergys.
