N5c Main Transmission Initial Build
« on: January 05, 2018, 07:13:32 AM »
Can someone please explain why there are 3 holes in the main shaft on the end that goes toward the gears and there only appear to be 2 bolts that go the whole way through?  The image on page 40 is not much help.  A diagram or a section through the assembly would have been a big help.  I believe this is how it is supposed to go and someone please correct me if I am wrong:
The one collar with the bolt going through it goes through the bottom hole in the shaft with the boss resting against the top race of the bottom bearing block.
The second hole (from the bottom) on the shaft is empty.
The long bolt goes through the gear, autorotation hub and third hole (from the bottom).
The pinch style collar sits against the bottom of the inner race of the top bearing.
this appears to be the only way it fits.  Is this right or am I missing something?

Left over from belts version. This way the shaft can work with both.

Yeah that got me too but what  really had me panicing was the bolt for the main rotor head. Looked for it a

couple hours and realized it was already installed in the hole  :)
It is all about ground clearance
