Steve,

The OWB is pressed into the hub.  At least mine was.  Matt's comment was regarding the brass bushings.  As recall they are sitting on top and bottom of the OWB.

There is no call out for any brass bushings in the manual. The only call out for the one way is for 'delrin shims' on top and bottom. So, what do these brass bushings do? I'm trying to decide if I need to pull the main shaft. Do we ALL need to pull the main shaft and Loctite some bushings or do we only need to look into this if we are having problems with the one way? - Thanks!

The brass bushings act as spacers on the the top and bottom of the owb. They fill the gap in the difference in the size of the hub and the owb. The delrin shims rest against them.

I would assume you would only need to pull your main shaft out if you are having issues with the hub or owb as I was.

I did order a new main hub before I figured out mine was just jammed by a piece the belt.

I just opened it up and it would appear the bushings are loctited from the factory. They don't move or fall out on their own.

I am going to leave my old owb and hub on the bird and keep the new one for replacement parts.

I used Red Before and Blue, However I have also on past helis never Loctited the Brass Bushings/spacers and never had one ounce of problems because they wouldn't come out anyway. I wouldn't recommend trying to pry them out either. I have put a ton of flights on my heli's and never had a problem so don't get discouraged and think you have to start breaking down the Heli. It's not hard to to do. I have taken a Q Tip and added a touch of loctite to it and just went around the edge where the outer portion of the brass meets the inside diameter of the hub.  Once again this is Not something that should be misconstrued as a problem. These OWB's are Solid. and the Hub assembly likewise. Do it when you do your periodic maint and or God forbid a Crash or better yet a Rainy day. ;)

Sorry for the dumb question but how do I know if the OWB is installed on the main gear upside down? Am I to hold it and spin it a direction and see if spinns freely in one direction or the other?

Ok, my main gear has some resistance when I spin it by hand; is this normal?

Not the best example but, if you spin a skate board wheel on its axle it spins for a while. My main gear only makes a couple revolutions when I give it a good semi hard spin.

thats fine, Keep in mind when you put a few flights on this ol gal she will loosen up..  She will Be fine!! Fly it like you stole it!!  ;D  After you fly it, Just check the whole heli over real good and make sure everything is in check. ;)

does the hubs paws face up or down when installed? Photographs I have seen in the forums show paws up, the manual shows paws down??

There are no problems with the one way or the bronze bushings.

1. The one way is pressed in, no need to do anything but apply light oil.
2. The bronze bushings sit on both sides of the one way and act as a guide for the auto hub sleeve. There is no call out in the manual because they are included with the auto hub assembly. This is a part you will never need to buy as they do not wear out. Personally I like to loctite mine into the auto hub but this is not 100% needed.
3. The manual - writing a manual is a painful task, I apologize if not every tip is in the manual. This is something I am working on improving. Most of these tips are not critical to the successful operation of the helicopter. This is also why I started this forum so that guys that are confused can ask questions.
