Head speed
« on: February 12, 2012, 10:00:59 PM »
So I just got my new to me n5c all ready to go and was going to get the governor set up.  I was thinking since I am just going to be learning and sport flying I would run a head speed of 1750 to 1800.  After some reading it appears I need to run at least 2050 with this head.  Are any of you guys running this speed and if so how is the heli at this speed? ( remember this is my first large nitro and no Matt Botos to buddy box with :( ) does anyone know  a softer damper that will fit this head? I am just running an os50 and beastX.  Any comments, suggestions, or ideas would be appriciated.  Thanks in advance guys.

First off Craig, Congrats on the Build!

The Head speed that will work best for you is 1875-2150 rpm, This heli loves 2150. However if you want to just tone it back a bit to get the Feel of things and to build upon your skills, !850-1875 will be just fine. You can also run the dampeners soft to Med. Once you get use to this and as you Progress you have the option of bringing up the head speed as well as shimming the dampeners for a firmer fit. if you have any questions what so ever please don't hesitate to ask us or you can call me. Good luck! ;) Good thing about this heli as well as the other Models is that you have alot of Flexibility within them. You can cater to your flying style or set it up Hot and Grow into it!!

I run the GY701 governor on mine and have normal at 1850, stunt 1 at 1950 and stunt 2 at 2050. I do not fly 3D at all. Just forward flight, figure 8s, and hovering around slowly. I enjoy that style a lot really. I have had no issues with those head speeds. Most of the time I keep it in stunt 1 just in case I decide to do a flip or roll. This way I'm used to the higher head speed and already in idle up.

I too am running the Beast X and haven't had any vibe issues either.

Thank you both!! I think sometimes I overthink this stuff and just need to hear from others to help me out.

Thanks again

I'm using YS56 and CGY750 with 30% Cool Power and Rail 606's. ST1 1850, ST2 1950, ST3 2050 as a start point then fly adjust to personal performance I'm looking for.
