FBL head anodising. Replacement parts not matching color
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:46:09 AM »
Hi Guys,

I just bought a second hand airframe as spares for my new e7. It has the main blade grip arms and washout replaced due to a crash.

I have a question about the colour of the replacements. They are a dull grey finish not the shiny anodised silver of the originals. They look identical otherwise.

Can anyone tell me why these parts have a different finish? Does the FBL head come in two varieties?

The early fbl heads were the grey finish.  They are all silver now.

Thanks for the response. I was worried the replacement parts were not genuine.

Hi aro03,

Aaron is correct, the Grey finish is the earlier head production which will have a 4mm bolt hole. When Matt released the E6/7 the head was updated with bushings to allow the use of 4mm Bolts for E6 Configuration and 5mm Bolts for E7 configuration.

All parts are identical aprat from the colour and the only part with any difference is the actual blade grips as these will have a larger hole in them to allow the fitting of a blade bolt bushing.

Hope this helps

Hi Ross,

Thank you very much for the clear answer. My head has the new blade grips so it is just my blade grip arms and mixing arms that are in grey.

cheers

A
