What tail blade length for RPM?
« on: April 27, 2012, 02:02:58 AM »
Hi I am just wondering what tail blade length should be used on the E7 depending on RPM?

I am not really into high headspeed flying plus I am running vbar gov on scorpion ESC which gives me same performance at lower headspeed.

I am currently running 2050 with Rail 106mm blades, but feel they haven't been strong enough when I have been running the belt. I may go up to 2150 but I doubt any higher. I am also pretty keen on some lower 18-1900HS for some slower 3D and big air stuff.

Would I be best with 110mm or 115mm blades? (I have a set of each).

Also is the TT the same ratio as the belt?? That will also determine what size blades I need.

Matt posted some really good info on this:

"... Here are my recommendations based on head speed.

Head Speed------Tail Blade Size
1900-2000        110-115mm
2150                 110mm
2250                 Rail 106mm (they have 30mm cord for nearly the entire length)"

I like 1900 and 2100 on my E7 and found the 110mm blades to work okay. (much better than the 105mm blades I was using)

I have a demo tomorrow with a significant amount of wind forecast, so I am bumping the headspeed up and running the 106mm Rail blades.
