Anybody TT come bowed?
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:25:58 AM »
All,

I just received my TT kit yesterday, and was looking at the Torque Tube itself, and noticed that it is bowed in the middle.  I believe this to be a shipping issue overseas, as all three in the kit are bowed.   Perhaps the box was stacked on the end.   I will try and straighten, but not sure the best way to ensure a true TT rod.   Any ideas?

See attached picture

Thanks

My two kits were perfect out of the box, so was all the others I've seen at my club. Sorry to hear about this.

I think it was because of international shipping to my destination (Switzerland).    I am trying to straighten one, but not being very successful.  In the end, the TT will be secured in 4 spots (Front, 2x Bearings, and rear), so I wonder if I bget it close if it will be self correcting since it is just AL.

One thing you could try rolling the tube in-between two flat pieces of wood with some pressure. This has worked for me in the past.

Arrow shafts may be too thin walled. I would try to get a replacement shaft if you can't get it straight enough not to vibrate while up to speed.

If the inside diameter and outside diameter are the same then the wall would have to be the same

I can check two units on the bench for you and pack them in a heavy cardboard tube

Then I will put them in the box.  That was a 200LB test cardboard.  Did it look crushed?

Just let me know and they will go out Monday International express to you.

Ralph,

Yes the box looked crushed on the ends, but I did not think about it at first.   Based on the fact that all 3 TT were bent in the box, it looks as if it was placed on end for shipping.  I should have taken a picture of the box.

Yes please ship another one out to me in a more protective tube.

As always top notch customer services.   THANKS
