My beater E6 canopy
« on: July 25, 2012, 02:08:33 PM »
I have been kind of laid up this week with a DVT in my leg.  None of the fleet was in need of repair (for once).  I decided to resurrect and repair a damaged canopy that I was not using.  It needed a good bit of fiberglass work and definitely new paint.  I have been wanting to try some airbrushing and have a very nice Iwata airbrush just hanging out.
I used Createx airbrush paint and Krylon gloss clear.
I have a work table in the garage that allowed me to do the work while sitting.  All of the work was of course done with the garage door up and a mask on. Smell wasn't bad until I used the Krylon. Fortunately my wife is out of town for the week otherwise she would have fussed about the fumes in the garage.

The results are attached.  I think this one will be really visible!

Cheers,
Alan

Maybe that will be my winter diversion. Refurbishing old canopies!
Hopefully I'll get to try it out on Saturday.

I like it too Alan! Looks great. I will say though that I do not miss the days when matt painted his own canopies in the garage ;) the fumes always ended up in the house too somehow and we would both get headaches, yuck.
