DS8711, motor, transplanting
« on: September 15, 2012, 10:16:20 PM »
Any issue using DS8711 servos as far as fit and horn setup? It's a little larger than a Futaba and stands off a bit differently. I think a standard Futaba needs spacers to put the horns in the same plane. I usually see Futaba servos on Synergy models. My old 'trusty' JR9303 lost it's aileron pot mid flight which sent my Logo 600 into the ground. Even the radio's monitor shows it stuck at about 1/3 right aileron. So... an excuse for a new radio and may as well try a new model. Thinking about using it as a 600 for the rest of the season before growing it into a 700e. Also I'd like to use a Kontronic Pyro 700-52 if that isn't an issue. Thanks.

The Pyro will fit fine, providing it has a long shaft. I don't use spacers on my Futaba servos.
Seen several E7's with JR servos on them. Might have to do some extra work on the servo wheels to use the stock carbon servo arms..

I had to cut the shaft for the 12s setup. If futaba is used without spacers then these 8717 servos will bring the horn forward of that position. Maybe I'll just do the E7 up right and not worry about doing a 600 for now. This captcha system is a bit too tedious for me. I had to request another image about a dozen times.

I have 8717s with a Pyro 45 in my E7. No real issues, except for the screw clearance on the back of the horns. I posted photos elsewhere in the forum.
