I finally bite the Nitro bullet...

and what heli did I choose for my first ever Nitro? N5c of course!

I found a deal on a pre-owned unit I could not pass up.  Helped a friend out and that makes it better.

Here is what I have coming. I would appreciate any input and advice on setup.

Rail 606 mains

OS55 HZ-R motor (brand new)

Vbar Gov - need help on best sensor to use. Heli has futaba fan magnet setup now

Still looking into starters and fuel pumps. I have a friend who owns Extreme Hobbies here in town, I will probably go to him for those, but input on make and model would be nice. Brandon tells me the Align starter is rough on the system.

Leaning toward Cool Power 30% Heli MIx because that is what I can get local easy.

I have already warned Brandon I will undoubtedly need help with the first motor setup and tuning. He is a great friend in this hobby, glad he is so close to home.

I've got your back whenever you need some help brother. Just FYI, you should pick up some more receiver packs. The 2200 pack (as long as it's a good battery) will yield you 2 flights per charge safely.

Dave recently picked up a Glacier pack and I think I will make some of those as my next purchase for receiver packs as well.

I have several Rx packs from my electrics. But question. On my 700s i am averaging 200mAh draw per flight. Why would a nitro pull so much more? Getting 6 flights easy on my 2550 pulse rx packs.

You should get 4-5 flights out of that 2200 pack

Maybe it's the packs I'm using then but after two flights I am down to about 7.8 or 7.9 volts total and I don't want to push it further than that. Not sure if the PushGlo sucks a bunch out or what.

Nice setup.
Mine will be similar as I am just changing servos to bls-451's and silver line vbar.

I use a 2200 life pack and get 4 flights easy with a switchglo. I use a step down for the tail servo.

For a starter I use an align it works fine just a little ratchety. I also have a dynatron but it is way too fast on 6s, it engages the clutch. Need to try 4s or 5s.

Fuel pump I use a hanger nine manual attached to a tool bag I got from Lowes that fits a gallon of fuel and has a rubber bottom.

I also use the os 55 hzr with Hatori pipe. It runs great even with my crappy tuning skills.

Nice setup you have got yourself there, i run the BLS451's in mine and i find them quite efficient so i can comfortably get 3 flights on that size of Rx pack but to be on the safe side i would start at 2 flights and check how much you are putting back into the pack.

I have a Dynatron which has served me well for a number of years, i run it wirelessly with two 9.6v Nimh packs and it will start pretty much anything. It is an awesome starter and well worth it.

Fuel pump, i use the M4 setup from Slimline Products, comes with a CNC bottle cap and fuel pump mounted to the cap. Makes a nice and clean fueling setup.

I use 2100mah Lipos with a Gryphone regulator.  I get a solid 4 flights per pack with switchglo on board.   
Excited for you Bro....  I am having blast with my N5C.  I went through a gallon of fuel since Last Saturday.
Everyone including myself uses Curtis Youngblood Wildcat 30%.

I don't use a voltage to check my packs.  With life or lipo packs it is about the mha you use. How much are you putting in the packs after 2 flights?

With my bls 451 and the futaba 750 I get 3-4 flights out of my 90 size heli. And that is with a 2100 life pack.

I get 5 on my N5C with the bls 255 and the futaba 750 with a 2500 lipo pack.

Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it. My only question about the set up are the cyclic servos. I've never used the 252's. Will they be enough? I'm a sport flier getting a little into mild really mild 3-D will they be enough for me?

I love the 251 so I'm not worried about that one. For throttle that servo looks good.

I can't get wildcat fuel locally. I always heard you should run one fuel only once you break in a motor. Is that not true?

The fuel question, not so much, you can run any fuel you like, they just run a little different and you may have to adjust your needle for the different fuel, but that's it. The thing is, is that once you get a fuel you like, you just usually get that type the next time. But that doesn't mean you have to. But if you change a lot, and you have a bearing failure or something goes wrong, you can't really blame the fuel, because you won't know which one did it!

Making one change to my planned setup. Going to throw an MSH Brain on this guy. Supposed to be completely vib insensitive and has a nitro gov for $100 less than silver vbar. Getting great reviews. Thought i would see how it does.

Oh and I was wrong. Wild cat fuel is available locally. So will go that way since it comes so highly recommended.

If you are new to nitro you should try different fuels. Some fuels work better with different motors. I have run most of them and they all do the same thing, but you will find small differences between them. This is where you as a consumer gets to make a choice based on what you like.

I appreciate the tip. Any brand that I should avoid? Everything has at least one company that is "bargain basement"

I have the same engine in mine with a pb2 pipe and I have been using rotor rage 30% with no issues.

Your going to love that heli.  I'm running torqs on mine and on a 3600mAh pack I get 5 to 6 flights before needing to switch.
