Just to say hi, joined the club when my E6/7 TT arrived today  :)

I will be re-assembling all the sub-assemblies first, already completed the base and small trays with the spacers.

Main-shaft put together with gears, juggling between 2 manuals to get the TT differences right, need to combine the manuals by now?

My OWB was also technically reversed but remembered that you can simply flip it as the main gear height is central anyway.

Have the Kontronic 700-450 and Helijive, Futaba 451/251 servos and Full size Vbar (Silverline) and Rail 695 blades for an E7.

Also fly TDR, Logo 600, 500SE and Trex550 (beater now).

Looking forward to getting it airworthy  :)

Thanks guys, been through the tech tips and picked up on them all, esp the bronze bush fix.

Sub-assemblies all re-assembled and locktited where appropriate. Found the Main rotor head bearings a little tight and had to heat up the blade grips to get the thrust bearings out with a heat shrink gun. Implies good tolerances like the TDR  :)
All together now with grease bearings and plenty of torque on those spindle shaft bolts after de-greaseing and locktite

Frames together and found that the TT front drive a little tight on the mesh, need to read some more to see if it wears in, or a gentle file on the mounting holes?

Found the thread ref above, will wait out and try everything else to get a good mesh.

Also did some calcs on head speed, even using the supplied 14T pinion, HS is a little higher than I prefer with the Kontronic 700-450, 2000 RPM should be OK for my style (Big air etc), prefer longer flight times. Probably 11T/12T would be better. Saving grace is I have a Heli Jive that has a great Mode 6 for lower speeds.

Matt had me replace the 14t on my E7 with a 12t a few weeks back since I like lower head speeds.  I run 1800 usually.  Best thing I ever did for the E7.  The Castle GOV like this much better with the Turnado motor.  Getting 6.5 minutes and putting back around 5500mah.

Cheers

Yes 12T on order along with Booya canopy mounts
.
Nice surprise with the servo horns, fit the Futaba wheels exactly, must have been used as a template!

One tip I always use: instead of drilling a clearance hole in the plastic wheels for say 2mm screws, I always run a 2mm Tap through the holes and cut a thread, precise alignment and quite secure even before the nuts are thread locked on!

That was a straight forward build, Vbar finalised today and head speed calibrated.
I have a Pyro 700 450 and Helijive 120 and 12S 4500ma, calculated that the 12T pinion would be right, however, all was not well.
Calibrated to 1700, 1800, 1950 with a fully charged battery no problem at all.
Inspected my Jlog files and HS confirmed, but...PWM was between 80% and 100% on those HS's, even when the battery was down to 50%, using Jive mode 6 so no head room for the govenor, really odd!!

Changed to a 14T pinion, re-calibrated the HS and PWM at 2000 RPM was 80%, fine but must have missed something on the calculations!

Anyway, sounded awesome with Rail 696 blades, maiden this weekend  :) :)

I have a 470kv and I have to run the 14t to get good motor efficiency at 2000 rpm. I can push to 2200 but it doesn't hold the entire flight, and it's really not needed.

And some pictures, changes from stock:
KDE Head, Lynx SS Turnbuckles for pitch links (needed to shorten anyway for head) Used Align CF servo plates, preferred over the aluminium (cosmetic) and have an Emcotec switch, good job as the canopy takes a while to get on and off, but probably get used to that. Have the Booya canopy catches too, finaly a Fusuno Canopy.
Pictures below.

Motor: Pyro 700-450 14T pinion
ESC: Kontronic HeliJive 120 (Using Mode 6) and built in BEC at 5.6v (Good enough for my TDR)
Servos: Futaba 451/251.
Emcotec 120/240A Switch.
2 x 6s 4500 batteries, Nano Tech A spec and a Thunder Power set.

Maiden tomorrow Sat 26 Oct hopefully  :)

Looks great man!  The canopy time will get better. I can get mine on in just a few seconds now. Just have to learn which order works better. I have found it to be different from one canopy to the next.

I like the idea of the pull pin flag switch. Does that activate the ESC too?

Thanks, like to take care of the wiring/electronics installation, yes the magnetic sensor cuts off the battery to the ESC so all is switched on/off. Basically the switch is a load of Mosfets in parallel, similar to those used in your ESC. It cuts off the main battery so no spark when connecting, designed fail safe so a disconnected control input will ensure it stays on.

Only works if you are using the built in BEC obviously, otherwise you would need another switch, fully trust the Kontronic system so no issues, nice to be able to plug up, canopy on and no worries about waiting to fly if the line is busy.

Well, your efforts are for not, that has to be one of the cleanest E7s I have seen yet. Congrats!
