I don't think I would be experimenting with anything on the rotor head.  You need (4) 1mm blade spacers with 4mm holes.

So that should be something included in the kit.  He has tail blade spacers in the kit and with the tail blades, but no spices for the main blades.  I will see if my idea will work.  Thanks though!

Actually blade spacers are generally included with the blades above 600mm.  Normally helicopters that run 550mm blades don't need spacers but, the E5 was made to be configurable (at the request of Synergy consumers) and therefor has larger main blade grips than most other 550 size helicopters. This is why the E5 requires spacers and also the reason they are not included with the blades.  I guess you could say it's a catch 22.

See, that is why he should include those in the kit.  I have the shim I doctored up on now, but if you see it tomorrow and think its a bad idea I will take it off.  But the only other option is to tighten down the bolt in the blade grip enough.  Surely some other first time Synergy builders are having issues with the blades and this kit.  Does Matt have any extras laying around his house?  I keep running into small hurdles, but I'm sure I will get over everything and one day have it up in the air.

Do not tighten down the blade grips to get rid of the space!  This will cause all kinds of problems starting with blade tracking problems.  Bad idea, this is a $1.99 fix lets not turn it into a $1200 mistake.

I'm not sure about hardware stores, they are made of aluminum.  1mm thick with a 4mm hole.

Yeah that would be awesome. I'm headed to see Rich today for set up and hopefully a lift off.  But if we can get it in the air I can wait to fly again once I have the proper shims. It is supposed to rain Saturday so that will make me resist flying it until I have the right shims.

Wish I knew this before. Maybe one day Matt will throw in a free pair of shims.  I'm going to contact fun-key or funky monkey, whatever they are called, as a customer and ask if they could include the shims.

I have now mailed out all of my extras, glad I could help a few of you out :)

For those who can't find any locally, Ron Lund and HeliProz South has them:

These are what you need for rail 556s

I am sure the Shims in the blades will be fixed soon.

These are listed on the tools and supplies list as well.  If you are building a Synergy "E" series you should check it out.
