Will these blades be available around the release date of the E5?  Also, which tail blade size should be used with the E5 as well?

The 556 are already available and in stock at some dealers.

I know most guys are going to run the 96mm tail blades.

Got mine at IRCHA just to make sure I beat the rush. I'm glad I did.

I wonder if I should use a less expensive blade until I get the settings dialed in just to make sure I don't have a blade strike?

Go with the the Rail 556 they were designed with the E5 in mind and are properly weighted as such.  They will give you good stability in hover and they are quiet.

Even while dialing in the settings though? Ok, I'll come to Atl and let you look it over before the maiden flight then.

Especially while dialing in the settings! Blades can effect FBL gain settings, tail gain settings, pitch and roll responsiveness and a myriad of other things. . All rotor blades are not created equally, how they are weighted, where they are weighted, airfoil design, width and balance all effect the way the helicopter flies and how responsive it is.  I would have never believed how much difference there is between blades that appear the same on the surface had I not experienced this for myself flying a set of prototype blades that were crazy fast (never went to production).  I will be happy to look it over come on down.

Good point Rich. I had to dial down my E7's just a bit when I started using rail blades. Much more responsive than anything I had flown prior. Funny thing is now I have started increasing agility now that I am used to them and more comfortable with both the E7, blades and my ability:-)

Glad I picked up a set, really nice.  I have to really tighten up the main rotor bolts though so the blades weren't flopping all over the place.  Is that normal for the E5 main grips?

Did you put on blade spacers? Note: the Rail 556 blades do not come with spacers but, the E5 requires spacers.  I am using 1mm  spacers.  One on the top and bottom of each blade.  Someone please correct me if the thickness is wrong, I did not take them off to measure.

Yes. I needed to use spacers with the 556 Rail Blades. I had a stash of them from e6 and e7 blades. Yes I have crashed a few RailBlades:-)

crap, I don't have any spacers.  I thought maybe the tail blades were actually the spacers, took off one and it wouldn't fit on the bolt.  There were some extra bearings or something  in the spare parts kit, could I use those?  What else could work as shims?

I don't have any additional "thin" spacers or I would give them to you.  I obtained mine the same way Alan obtained his.   :o

So that should be something included in the kit.  He has tail blade spacers in the kit and with the tail blades, but no spices for the main blades.  I will see if my idea will work.  Thanks though!
