Pitch Marks?

New to Helicopters but wondered something.  I was setting the pitch yesterday and wondered why it would not be a good idea to have pitch marks located on the blade grip portion of the head possibly etched by a laser with a reference mark on the head.  Would this be cost prohibitive, not accurate enough for a seasoned pilot?

SAB Goblins and Blade 130X both have marks at zero degrees.  I don't know about on the Goblins, but on the 130X, it's not very accurate.

The MA heads for the Furion 6 and Fury 55 have this feature. The marks are ok but not really that accurate.  Even when I thought they were dead on they were a half degree or so off center. Doesn't take much rotation of the arm to give you a degree or so in pitch change.  Close enough maybe but I still found myself reaching for the digital level when I owned a Furion.

OK.  Sounds like it would be a quality control issue to guarantee repeatable accuracy and when you associate your name with a product, you would want it to be reliable. I could see it being an additional cost as well by adding this to the process.  A couple of additional steps and the equipment costs may be hard to justify the ROI when most are going to dial it in precisely.  ;)

I think just about everyone would still use a pitch gauge of some sort to ensure accuracy.  I know I would.  Pitch marks would get you close but not perfect like a pitch gauge.

Raptor 50 and 30 has a pitch gauge built into it, but no one I know uses it. Just can trust em to be on all the time. I could see having a mark eched in the grips and head as a reference. But I would never set it without a pitch gauge.

 I'm telling my age but, the Jr. Ergos had  hash marks on the grip and head block back in the day. Nope they weren't accurate at all.. Much rather use a pitch guage.

I ordered a Soko heli tool pitch gage. Anyone try a smart phone level app? Just curious if its accurate?

Actually yeah they aren't bad. I have used a zero pitch tool from Rick Lhor and then been able to program pitch and cyclic with my phone. I don't know that I trust it to be accurate enough to find level for me.

I'm with Justin, Even if it had the marks, I still use my RC Logger Pitch Guage kit. However for a quick "REF" I have put those very marks on one of my old N5's.
