« on: January 17, 2013, 08:34:20 PM »
I'm getting a synergy N5c soon i would like to know if there is anything i can seriously mess up before i try to build anything, as i suck at building anything remote control.  And im not sure what motor and servos i will be using im a sport flyer so no hardcore stuff  suggestions are welcome.

I would get the Boto sizer for the ball links.

OS 55 is my motor of choice. As far as servos what brand do you like? What FBL system are you going to use? What blades?

This is a great model. And holds up really well.

Hi rymps, Thanks for your reply I will most likely use the OS 55 i was just looking and it seems to be pretty good.  I was also reading some threads on here and saw people talking about the power boost pipe would that be good for sport flying? As far as servos go I'm not sure as this will be my first build for a heli I've never had to choose servos so can you suggest something. My 700 size was built for me so i don't know much about the building part.  I will be using Rail 606 sized blades.  I'm going to use ar7200bx for my fbl system.

OS 55 is a great choice. I would run a power boost pipe 2 or the Funtech B320 pipe. I run the OS 55 and the B320 pipe. And it works great. It dose not matter if you are a sport flyer or a 3D flyer. It just works.

As far as servos you will need a good set of digital servos. Align 610 or futaba BLS255 or JR 8917. It depends on what voltage you want to run. As far as tail servos , I would go with the Futaba BLS256HV or the outrage BL9188 HV. Both are high voltage but work at lower voltage as well. This way you will not need a step down for the tail.

Your set up sounds good so far.

For starters, your in the right place!! lol  go to the Build Tips and Tricks section.. read the info closely. The build is a breeze. pay attention to the Tail Box and Tail Output shaft Measurements,(( the Bell crank flange bearings is a must read)) as well as the overall build up of that mechanism. it's truly a Great Designed Heli that has Presence in the Air, It just commands respect even when it's just sitting there.  Any question what so ever, Hit us up Brother, Great Family thing going on here!!! your in Great Hands!!

[/quote]The muffler choice is critical to the performance.

I've flown many YS56 helicopters and have yet to find one that has more power than the OS55HZ coupled with the PowerBoostII or Hatori.

The Hatori is an excellent choice for a pipe, make sure you get the one designed for the YS60 as it breathes much better.
The Power Boost II is also an excellent choice and also sounds a little better than the Hatori. Make sure you do not get the Power Boost I as it was designed for the OS50 Hyper and will not work properly on the OS55HZ.

Welcome William!  You will really like the N5C.  I started out my Synergy experience with an N5 and now have an N5C, E7 and E5.

OS55 is a great motor!  Painless to run and setup.  I use the Funtec B320.  Servos depend on your budget.  I use Futaba and Savox.  Savox has a line of HV servos at really good prices.  Savox are essentially Align servos.

As Kevin stated read the info on this forum in regards to tips and tricks.

We are here to help you if needed.  Never hesitate asking questions.

Go over to the Welcome section and fully introduce yourself.  LEt us know your experience and where you live.  There are Team Members all over the country and possibly one near you.

Welcome to the family William.

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,  Thanks for your reply.

Ill probably go for the Futaba servos as I've been using futaba since I first got into rc model flying.
Any idea on what model servo i should be using i don't want to run a HV set up simply because it kills the battery faster.
I don't want to go over 90 dollars a servo.

I will introduce myself in the new comer section later.

Best wishes and happy flying :),

Hello William.  Good another Floridian!  I am originally from St. Pete.

You are going to be hard pressed getting Futaba servos in your price range.  the BLS351 is what I run on my N5C and BLS251 on the tail.  You are looking at $120 per servo on sale.

In you price range I would look at the Savox SC1256TG for the cyclic which are $80.  Then spend a little extra on the rudder servo and buy the BLS251 for that.  It will pay off!  That is what I run on my E5 currently.

If you are not dead set against an HV setup then the Savox 1268SG are really good.  I have those on an E7 in addition to a Savox 1267SG on the rudder.  They work well.  I get 3 flights no problem out of a 1500mah 2S lipo.

Cheers
Alan

hi william im a new n5c owner and it was my second heli build,,yes its a little tricky compared to most but take you time ,,ask questions and trust me it will reward you well,,i to am only a sport flyer and didnt want to spend a fortune on electronics so i went with ds610,s on cyclic 650 on the tail and a ds520 for throttle as these servos are more than good enough for my style of flying,,for fbl unit i wanted to try something different than the beast x i had allready used so went with a skookum robotics sk540 plus it has a built in gov so thats one thing less to find room for ,,the sk540 is great and feels so much better than beast x and is a lot more tunable,,for the reg i went with a gryphon vega reg with flag pin switch and it tucks up inside the frame at the front and a gryphon auto glow on the outside of teh frame at the front and it turned out nice and clean looking as there isnt a great deal of room compared to other helis,,ive only had 6 flights mainly breaking in the motor and this heli feels awesome m8 and you will be well rewarded with your build
