BEC or Receiver Pack

I see a lot of setups for the E7 using a BEC rather than seperate receiver pack.  I'm still undecided which way to go.  Is there a logical spot to put a receiver pack that does not affect COG?

you can easily mount a BEC underneath  the speed controller on the opposite side of the speed controller tray.   Thats what I am doing..

For sure a separate RX pack is the safer method but most don't want to bother with an extra RX pack. I've been flying electric only for almost 2 years now and have never flown with a separate RX pack, therefore my answer to you is go with a good quality BEC like the WR.

Thanks Guys.  Are you running the WR BEC of a single 6S pack at 22.2V, or off the 12S combined pack at 44.4V?

I run the WR Hercules tapped right into my CC120HV leads (12S).

CC is good if you don't run it over 10S, on 10 and 12S I run WR. When I used to have an 8S heli I used CC BEC pro

Personally I beleive running a seperate pack is the safest option.  My setup is simple yet effective.  I have a Hyperion 1700MA 6.6 LiFe battery mounted at the very rear of the battery tray, running up to a small perfect regulators switch that provides two lines into my R6203SB receiver.  You can still run a full length stick pack of the 12s size and not have it protrude to far forward to create an out of wack CG.

Thanks Justin.  I plan on using a full size vbar with sats, and if I go the seperate pack option, I'll use HV servos. Is there still value in a regulator in this case?  Are you flying your this weekend?

Hi Gary,

If you use a LiFe battery into the V-Bar then you will not require a Bec/Reg with a HV servo Setup.  This offers the greatest piece of mind all for an additional 100gm of weight.

Yes we will be flying this weekend, sunday seems to be the go at freestylers or Melbourne Heli Club.

On my E6 i am using a seperate Rx Lipo (Optipower 2150mah 2S 7.4V) and a seperate voltage regulator which is a Flighttech 8A regulator.

The Regulator voltage is adjustable and has 2x input leads and 2x output leads, a charge lead and a failsafe switch. I like the facility to be able to power up the system without powering the ESC.
