You guys are a bad influence
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:45:02 PM »
So, I sold my 6HV the other day so I could buy an N5C and fill out my Synergy fleet...

Here's what I've bought, so far.

O.S. 55HZ-R DRS with a Hatori SAB-55
Align 610 cyclic servos
Align 655 rudder servo
Align 520 throttle servo
SK540 FBL controller

Still haven't decided if I'm going to go with 2S Lipo and a regulator or run a 2S LiFe pack, unregulated.  I've been running LiFe packs on my E5 and E7 with really good results so I may just go that route.

As far as a glow igniter, is there any big advantage or disadvantage of one that's transmitter activated versus push-button?

I have some brand new nitro field equipment that I bought quite a while back when I was going to fly planks. I have a Sullivan starter and fuel pump.  I just need to get a starter extension.

Go Rodney!

I have a switch glo on mine operated by both a switch and the throttle. Mixing required. At low throttle with the switch on it is active. The audible warning is nice!  At 1/3 throttle its off or of course with the switch. After about 20 seconds it does also shut itself off. You must rearm by flipping the switch again.
I also use a gryphon regulator with a 2s 2100mah lipo. I also use their external switch mounted towards the rear of the frame. Makes is much easier to get at the switch. If you like I'll post photos of my setup. Very clean using the CGY750.

Cheers
Alan

Oh. Advantages of the igniter activated on radio. You can flip it on easier when walking out to the flight line if needed. Especially on those cold days. That has saved me a trip back to get the starter.  Push button works okay also. I had one on an N5.

I thought I like my 6HV until I flew my first Synergy. I've gone full Synergy fleet now, except for N5C,  because I like electric.

Congrats! I personally use PushGlo as I didn't want to fuss with assigning a switch ETC although they always have seemed nice. Anything remote beats charging and using a separate glow igniter and even potentially having to remove the canopy to do so.

I was thinking that if I decide to go lipo and use a regulator, I'd go with a Gryphon regulator and their pin flag locks.

Yes.  The Vega works great!  Several switch choices.

I actually had that in my shopping cart, along with the pinflag led switch.  I'm leaning more toward going with LiFe packs, though.  I did order my SK540 and the throttle servo from Experience RC today to take advantage of the 10% off sale.

Got the nitro Bug huh Rodney?

Looking good. I run that same motor in my Nightbird it's a real powerhouse.  Quite a bit easier to tune for a newbie like me.

Yeah, I don't have any good reason to get one because I really like my electrics a lot.  But then, I don't have to explain it to any of you because you all already get it.  ;D

haha Rodney, now you'll have all the Synergy helis currently in production.  All I'm missing is the E7 and I'm running out of willpower quickly. :)  The N5C is my favorite so far and the E5-s is a close second.

What motor do you have on your other one?  Just curious.

The OS 55HZR-DRS is an animal of an engine! Great choice!  :)

on the glow side, have a look at the Gryphon Mini Auto Booster. Its small and light and takes up very little room, it is a touch switch type but also has an automatic feature.

Check them out here:http://www.experiencerc.com/store/gryphon_mini_auto_booster_%28touch_switch_type%29_gab-3300-p-11200.html
