Futaba R7008sb antenna placement
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:03:34 PM »
So I got the N5c built no problem thanks to the kind help I found here, got my new Futaba T14SG(first ever Futaba radio for me) pretty well figured out, got my CGY 750 (my first) basic programming mostly dialed in (haven't flown yet, so maybe-maybe not), and now to the hard part.
What do I do with the antenna wires?
Rx is mounted under the front of the battery tray, so that the wires are sticking straight
out into the nose of the canopy. The manual says antenna 90 degrees apart, ok, but these things are like 5" long, and aren't supposed to be near metal or carbon-CARBON!!-where isn't there carbon on this thing?
Any pics or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

I recently had this same question!  The good news is the Fiber Glass Canopy won't interfere with the antennas.  I mounted my RX to the side of the frame just in front of the Servo box.  I then routed one wire down along the frame and the antenna hangs out into the open air in the nose. The other antenna i fed through the frame under the battery tray and looped it back across the top of the vbar. This has the antennas 90* to each other and neither of the antennas are touching carbon.

Keep in mind, only the exposed wire at the end of the cable is the actual antenna. The shielded part can contact carbon safely.

Thanks for the ideas Chris. I think I got it sorted.
I ran one down the frame as you did, secured it with a couple drops of hot glue.
I looped the other up to the battery tray under the velcro strap holding the rx and pointing
to the nose.
