Neil,
Great to hear!  Well at least as far as figuring out the source of the problem.
Again let me know if obtaining a new main gear eludes you and we will see what we can do.

Cheers
Alan

Glad you got it figured out!
I've been running the 4525-520kv ultimate since the motor first hit the market with no problem. Honestly, I have yet to find a motor that can strip the E7 main gear. :)

Thanks,

Matt

That was a weird one, Neil rang me about this and who would have thought there was an E5 pinion on the motor. A minor over sight

Yes. Fortunately (or  unfortunately)  I had seen that before with someone I know. He had decided to change to the 12t pinion. Ordered one but the vender sent the wrong one and he did not catch it. He also scratched his head for a bit :-)

Hey guys,

Yeah, I'm the friend Alan mentioned that scratched his head, fortunately I only destroyed one main gear and the vendor was gracious enough to replace it. I only this morning decided to look on the forum and immediately picked up on the fact that was an E5 pinion, the small collar is a dead giveaway! (I attached a pic of mine, correct gear on the left, destroyed main gear behind, I bet it looks familiar!)

By your post is sounds like you did get airborne, my gear stripped out on my maiden flight ( or attempted flight) before I could even reach head speed.

Glad you got it sorted out, my E7 has been trouble free and an awesome machine!

Hello All,

Its time for me to update you on my progress with my main gear/pinion issue, I went ahead and swapped over pinions as suggested, I located yet another main gear and before installing offered up both the original pinion and the new one to the main gear as a kind of double check, straight away it is obvious which pinions are for which helicopter.

When the pinion is offered up to the main gear the helix angles will throw the bore centrelines off if the pinion has been selected incorrectly. If I get time later today I will post a pic which will explain this more clearly.

Anyways armed with the knowledge that my gears were correct and backlash set I spooled her up and launched her into the air, instantly the E7 sounded better, the spool up was smooth and the power transition faultless but wait OMG my E7 is a beast, the power that is available was just plain scary, what a formidable machine, this thing is just insane, I'm addicted to it, what a rush.

I want to say a big thank you to all you guys for your help and understanding, I'm sure I've saved a couple of hundred dollars by dropping on here and talking to you all, I hope very much to improve my knowledge of the Synergy heli range,  so that one day I can come back and help someone else in the manner you guys have helped me.

Thank you all soooo much, Oh and Alan big thanks to you for the offer of sourcing a main gear, thankfully this time I got sorted, but seriously your a great guy, thank you heaps.

Best Regards

Neil

Great to hear Neil.  I was just thinking yesterdaythat we had not heard back from you.

Actually my friend Bob had called and we talked about this whole scenario.  He is the one I mentioned earlier with the same situation a while back.

Well now that all is good let's see some photos of that baby! And not just the main gear  ;D

Cheers
Alan

Glad you figured it out! I've even had my mesh way too lose and have had no problems stripping so I was puzzled reading the first couple of posts. :)
