I might give it a try, the only thing I don't like about vbar is the whole "range" thing (80-120, etc.)

I have one on my E7 and really like it. I use them on all my helicopters actually.

Do any of you use receivers instead of sats? And if so, will a 6 channel receiver be adequate?

Yes but you can't use ikon gov when it's set to full size rx mode. Just a heads up.

Gotcha. I will initially use the stock gov on the esc. Plus I found an 8 channel receiver so I'm good to go. Thanks!
Might have some programming questions in a few weeks. At first I will just fly with the basic programming.

The ikon feels good I was impressed! I flew a Ikon reps N5c.. roll/flip rates were awesome and felt great!
