Which ESC'S for my E7se?
« on: July 11, 2013, 07:53:47 AM »
So as you know I'm building my first Synergy (E7se) and currently I have a CC 120 I'm going to install this weekend. With that said should I be tempted to up size to the 160 or stay where I'm at? What are those parameters that would take me to the 160? I'm running the scorpion 4035-500kv pushing 716 blades. I don't want install and find out later I told you so. Thanks for the input.

Gary,
For the 4035 the Max amp draw is 104A peak.  The 120A ESC works fine and I have run that before.  On the larger motors (4530,4535) I would go to the 160A due to the greater amp draw.

Cheers

+1 Alan.

These guys using 120's with the 45 series motors on paper dont make sense to me, but somehow they're getting away with it. Collective MGMT maybe??? lol

So if I think I would go to a 35 series motor down the road I should think of a 160 motor?  With that said why causes going to a 45 series motor?  Thanks.

The 4530 and 4535 are just more powerful than the 4035. Depends on your flying style.
Take a peek at the scorpion website and look the watts figures.
For sport flying the 4035 works great and gives good flight times.

Just to clarify, a 4035 series motor is no slouch!  I've never owned one of the larger motors but the 4035 was always more than enough for me on the E7 and I smacked it around pretty hard.  I'm now flying a 4025 series motor on a 700 size machine and even that pulls plenty hard enough!

IMO, there is no need for a larger motor unless you want to turn insane headspeed and/or just have to have the biggest and baddest.

Thanks Darren for that info and yes I'm Old and Slow so I'll let the you d and bold do the smack. The slow rolls and flips are good for me.

I ran the 4035-560 at 2200 on my 7HV, it was no slouch of a motor at all.  Plenty of power and it handles smack just fine.

When I sold the 7HV and got my E7, I put in the 4525-520....wow.  Both running the same headspeed, but the 4525 just has way more torque and handles some serious abuse.

Both are great motors, since you already have the ESC and motor I would stick with those.  You can always upgrade later on if you want more power.

Thanks John, I do t think I will doing any smack down due to processing those commands to the thumbs are just not possible. I look forward to the slowest head speed I can get and just float around in the air does me just fine. Had bought 696 mains but going to switch to 716's to help with the floating.

+1 Darren.. I toyed with the thought of a Scorp Ultimate..but truth, a 4035-500 is going to be plenty for me I think!
