Help me put together an E6/E7
« on: October 07, 2011, 07:26:27 AM »
Hi All!

I've been meaning to get a bigger heli and very impressed with the design of the e6/e7. This will be my first 600/700 class heli but I want to build it as a 600 class first.

I've got a few questions,  When I'm comfortable enough flying the e6 I eventually will want to move to e7. Is it possible to use 1 motor to run in either formation (600/700)? and since Im still learning and dont do hard 3d (i wish!!!), I want to run it with low headspeed if possible (1800-ish mikado logo style?).

So to sum it up, not looking for a power horse...just something decent with the opportunity to grow (from 600 to 700).

Would appreciate your feedback on what motor and battery configuration to get. Thanks.

Use the hacker A50-12L with a cc ice2 120hv esc and a bec of your choice. This set up will allow for a 12s E6. To convert to a E7 all you would need to do is buy blades and batteries. If you ran a 4000mah lipo on the e6 I suppose you could use the same on the e7, but I do recommend a 4400 mah for the e7. Not exactly how this heli will perform with 1800 head speed I run mine a lot higher. Hopefully someone has tried it and can answer that question for you.

Best,
-Steve

Yes if you use the Hacker 470kv motor you can use it in both configurations. 1800 head speed will be a little low mostly for a 600 size. 1900 for E7 is nice for smooth sports flying. For the 600 class 2000 would be better.

I agree with the above...Hacker 470kv is the perfect choice.

I'm running a 12s E6 with 3300mah packs right now but plan to convert to E7 with new packs.

The way I figured it out, with my Kontronik 700-45 was use the 14or 15T pinion for the E6, then just use either the 12 or 13T pinion for running the E7....  If I recall, the difference in HS, is perfect for 600 sized with the larger pinion, and perfect for 700 sized for the smaller pinion....

Somehow I think Matt did this on purpose....

Oh yeah... and these would both be 12s setups....   Currently  I use a set of TP 4400 mAh batteries and the fit perfect....

Good luck,

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Hows the quality of this particular hacker motor compared to  scorpion/pyro motors? just wondering why so many people suggest to use this motor.

is it self serviceable just like scorpion motors? any scorpion motor with the same characteristics and specs?

Do I need to make any modification to fit it to the frame of E6/7?

I'm still curious if the heli will fly well with low HS or not (as stated above I'm still in the learning stage not 3D-ing..yet). and I find low HS is less intimidating :p

The Hackers and Piro's are fantastic motors.  The Scorpions are not bad either if you wanted one of them I would go for a HKIII 4035-450KV to allow for E6 & 7 12s configs.
