I have also been running the 255/256 combo in my E7 SE.  Unfortunately when my ESC/BEC ignited a couple of weeks ago it took out the servos.  I should have the replacements back from Hobbico the first of next week.  They gave me replacements for $98 each.  Not bad considering that isn't covered under the warranty.

I do like the 255/256's and I did note a difference as compared to the Savox HV's in my other E7.  I now have MKS in that E7 SE and the Futabas will end up in the N7.  I am interested in seeing how the MKS compare. Hopefully I will get to try them Sunday ;D

Cheers
Alan

Alan I read somewhere about your esc going up, can you tell me how it took out your servos?  I am just interested in knowing if the fire itself caused the damage to the servos or if it was electricity?  Sorry for the loss buddy, mechanical failure is the worst.

Electrical failure not mechanical ;D

I am running the Jeti MEzon ESC's that have a 10a BEC built in.  For whatever reason some FET's evidently gave up the ghost on spool up.  As a result the whole thing went up including the BEC.  The BEC evidently passed some high voltage onto the rest of the system.  It took out my Bavarian Demon, Receiver and the servos.  Also toasted the Scorpion BUG.  Esprit is replacing everything except the Servos.  No airframe damage except for the canopy.  Took lots of cleaning to get the smoke residue off.

Shit happens... ESC's do fail.  Makes Nitro look even more appealing doesn't it :)

Cheers
Alan

Nitro has always appealed to me.  Your right when electric goes its either really small or its really large!  If there is a good side to the problem you had its that you got a whole new electronics setup. :D

Nitro is not a practical option for me.  The closest and most convenient field to me is electric only due to noise restrictions.  I also perform most of my setup and adjustments in my basement; I just go to the field to fly.  Maybe if I lived in a less metropolitan area, I could try nitro and gas.  I just hope that ESC's and BEC's become more safe and reliable with new technology.

Humm.  Not sure why Barry.  I have used the 274SV and it works done.  The 276 does specify 760Microseconds which is supported by the Bavarian Demon.  Unfortunately there is not much info directly from Futaba on man of the new servos.
Sorry I couldn't be of ore help.

Cheers

What Futaba servos would you get to go with he Kosmik 160A on the 700?  The 273/276sv are on sale. Going to use the internal HV BEC.
Moving my LV Futaba servos and 120 heli jive to a new E5.

I am using the BLS272SV/274SV combination on my N7's.  The 272 is pretty much a direct substitute for the BLS255HV and the 274/276 are the 256 replacements...  Both are fine with the Kosmik BEC at 6.6 or 7.4V.
 I would go with 7.4V...

I am trying to find out for sure about the 274 versus 276 thing..  Will let you know...

Cheers

Have you ran the 274s with the 3SX?

Yes.. no problems using the 274.. The 274 was designed as the sbus replacement for the 256..
Checked with one of my Futaba  friends and he was not sure about the 274/276 difference  but would be able to find out on Monday.

I think the difference between 274/276 is the 1520us and 760us? I know you can use 720us on the 3SX.

The Bavarian Demon will support a 760us tail servo (and 1520). Not sure where the 720 came from?

From where?  I've been thinking about these same servos for my E7SE build I'm piecing together.
