Synergy E7 Setup Questions

Hi, Im going to pick up an E7 on tuesday and cant wait! I am going to run 12 cell but not sure what mah yet?

What flight times are you guys getting?

What scorpion motor you guys recommend?

Do you run a seperate rx battery or straight through from the main batterys?

Do you use a regulator?

Scorpion 4035-450KV is good, 500KV is fine but you may need to wait until the lower tooth pinions are out.

You can also just squeeze in a 5025-450 or 440KV but do need to file back some material on the bearing blocks for it to fit.

I'm using Pyro 450 and Kontronik 80HV ESC, running Hyperion 12S 4500 batteries, and fly for 6 minutes of big air sports flying. I use the BEC that is included in the Kontronik ESC.

You could use the CC ICE2 120HV with the CC pro BEC, 450 to 470 KV motor, just make sure the motor has 30MM mounting holes and is not wider than 58mm.

I was going to run a separate rx pack with regulator, but the electronics were starting to get a little tight, so I opted for the CC Pro BEC. I have it wired so that only connects to a single 6s pack (supposed to be more reliable for the BEC- covered in other threads on here). The BEC is small and easily mounts to the underside of the plate for the ESC.

Do u think using the bec in the kontronik is safe?

You can actually fit motors up to 62mm in the E7 like a 5020/5025 if you want.

A Kontronik PowerJive 120+HV is more than enough for the motors you're considering. (There are just a few [non-custom wound] motors that will go beyond that ESC's rating).

The BEC is excellent, but be sure to use both the master and slave leads to your RX/FBL unit.

How about the Scorpion 4525-520kV with the 12 tooth pinion? Would I need high C rated batteries to go with this set up or would 35C be ok?

Still might be a little fast for a E7.

The 4525 will be fine and 35c will be fine depending on how hard you push it.  I would be more of a 65C person on that engine though.

4525 on 12t should be fine with Jive at 65-75% and hs of 2150.

I have 2 of the 4525-520 LE motors and a 4530-540 LE motor on other helis. IF you push it hard, just watch the battery temp; those motors can get my Thunder Power 65/130C packs a little warm when pushed really hard (mostly big sky + speed flying though). They also get my Thunder Power 45/90C packs pretty warm, but not hot.

BTW, what brand of packs? If Zippy or FlightMax... I can almost guarantee they'll puff if/when pushed.
