Main Blade Grip 520-514 Question
« on: October 16, 2013, 08:40:15 AM »
The E7se manual states the main grip as part number 520-514, but when I look at pictures of the part on the different sites it is a representation of a main grip without the lubing holes top and bottom.  Can someone verify that those are just old images and the part 520-514 does in fact have the holes like the grips that come with the kit?  My second E7se was a used one and it has grips without these holes...

520-514 is the new grip with the holes.  520-512 is the old version.
If you have a true SE kit it will have the ones with the lube hole.  If the heli was an E7 and upgraded without replacing the main grips it would not have the holes.
Yes.  Some sites may still have old pics..

Yes, I asked it it was an original E7se, I was told yes that it was a prototype purchased from a team pilot...  Oh well, it has the correct main gear, correct frames, tail and everything else look the same - except for the main grip holders!
Thanks,
Chris

There is a difference between a retail kit and the prototypes we receive.
It is very likely that the prototype did not have the new grips yet. Only Matt can answer that. Have you discussed this with the person you purchased it from?
Lets not point fingers unless we have the whole story :-)
Suggest you contact the seller if this is REALLY bothering you.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I was bothered, got a nice deal, and was just thinking of purchasing the newer part, but needed to verify that 520-514 was the right part...  Ralph told me that the older grips could also be modified with a drill press, but my skills might be a little lacking there (I have been know to damage items when I try to modify), so wanted to make sure I had a backup plan!

I am a firm believer in when you purchased a used heli, you'll always need/want to change a few things out to make it exactly like you want it...  The second owner of this one didn't like all 4 of the quick releases, I tend to like them - ordered 2, etc.

The grease holes were a nice touch but I doubt I would spend the money on new ones in your case. The important thing was the shorter grip arms and those are what you have. Helps with the geometry.
I like the key chain style mounts. Some folks don't.

Just an update, against my better judgement (and some others here), Esprit Models had a 20% over the weekend and I ordered PN 520-514.  Unfortunately they do NOT have the lubing holes in them...  So, I guess these only come with the E7se kits, and cannot be bought as a part.

They will be available that way. Esprit had older stock that was pre- SE.
