Hello Mdu6,

When it comes to battery power utilization and tons of gizmos, the only loss you will experience is the number of flights per pack. Unlike an electric helicopter, the RX pack is not the heart of performance.

When I designed the N7, I accounted for 0-4 ounces of unnecessary gadgets at the nose of the helicopter which gives you a range of 2500 - 4000mah in battery size selection. If people stay within this range, the helicopter should have peak performance at a very light 9.5lbs.(servos can vary in weight so the AUW may vary)

A more simplistic approach will save money and you will most likely experience less electronic failures. Make sense?

Thanks,

Matt

Mine probably comes into the gizmo category, I have a CSM carbsmart, Perfect regs Duo Pro right at the front and a Spektrum TM1000 telemetry TX in the nose for Rx voltage, engine temp and RPM feedback.
My flight pack is a Thunder Power 3800 2S as far forward as possible and amazingly the CG is spot on. AUW is 4.5kg no fuel.

If you know the AUW, you must be close to the maiden flight?

Mine balances with a 2s 2100mah Li-fe pack at the front (107g) and no other gizmos as im using vbar gov and no reg. I think though this is down to my old MP5 pipe being a bit on the heavy side and as the engine and pipe sit quite far forward because of the large main gear and pinion this effects the CG quite a bit so engine and pipe choice make a big difference in CG.

Indeed Rodney, although waiting for a ball link for the new type tail pitch slider parts, didn't realise the ball thread was different, probably a word of warning here, the left hand thread on the sleeve will work against you (reverse tail rotation) so really needs to be tight with thread locker although there should hardly be any load on it.
Also been talked out of using the Align starter and have a Sullivan on its way and weather is awful here anyway. So N7 is just for drooling over and admiring for a week or so but plan to fire her up, no blades to make sure there are no issues and set up the idle at least.

With the guys using the Pulse 4000mah packs is it the DX8 TX pack or something different?

The DX8 TX pack is the only 4000 2S Pulse pack that I can find available anywhere, so I emailed Pulse asking what the discharge rate is for this pack and they say it's only 1C. With a rating of 1C I don't see them lasting very long.
I might get the 3600mah RX pack thats rated at 6C instead

I have one of those tx packs. Dont. The output on it isnt enough. Never had a brown out with a rx pack until this. Not sure what is different but it cant handle it.

I have now 2 of the gens ace 2s 4000mAh packs and 2 pulse ultra 2s 3600mah rx packs. Either works fine.

I gave the pulse tx pack to a buddy for his dx7s.

I just switched my receiver packs out and now using pulse 2S 2550 Rx packs.  Balances perfectly.  Guess it's all this gizmo's  ;D

I have a couple of those and they dip voltage real quick in colder temps, and are good for 2 flights only. I know because of telemetry in my tx. Just watch them. As well a friend had his 2x pulse 2550mah packs go bad, and they are new. I going back to GA 2s 4000 rx packs. At least they don't dip so quick, I easily can do 4 flights. I know they are a 37gr more, but prefer to be on safe side.

I figured on only two flights per charge (safely).  I will be watching the telemetry and logs.  The pulse packs were cheap and readily available.  Ultimately I will be using some  TP 2700's.

Cheers

Yes that is the GensAce I'm using. Very satisfied...decent price and about 10 flights per
pack with my setup.

I can certainly recommend TP 3800 packs, last all weekend and balance was perfect with it mounted fully forward on the tray.
