Batteries for 12S (not stretched)
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:16:26 AM »
I purchased an E5 (550 size) with a Savox 5055-550Kv motor in it, looking to keep it 12S.  Seems like 2600-2700 mAh size are the preferable batteries size, but looking for recommendations on brand?  In the past I have stuck with Pulse Ultras, but they seem to always be on the heavy side...  I thought I would venture out and try other brands!

I just switched from Pulse to Thunder Power G8's and loving them lighter weight and you can feel the power advantage , being a 70C discharge it dropped the battery temps and ESC temps a few degrees vs the 45C I had

Glaciers are still my battery of choice. I have over 200 flights on the 4000 12s stick, IR is 2.2 miliohms per cell. Every charge has been at least 5c but other than that I treat them well.

Chapa,
Your running a 12S 4000 mAh on an E5 with 550 blades?  I was thinking that lighter, like 2600 - 2700 would be the best for this application...  Does it feel heavy in maneuvers?  I only run 12S 3300 mAh on my stretched E5 (with 606s).

I have 3300 12s packs for my E5 stretch.  Also a set of 2700's TP.  The 3300's give a little extra time and the weight is not noticeable.

Cheers

No I am running them on the E7 sorry for lack of clarification.  I also use them almost exclusively in my TX's, micro helis, starter, Rx packs, I even use them to power an electromagnet.  I have never had a problem, they come perfectly balanced with EC5 connectors already installed, and the c rating is very conservative.

Yes, I also love the 3300s in the E5 stretched.  But on this new E5 I really want to keep it at 550 size (and run a12S motor)...

Totally agree on the Glaciers, I made some stick packs out of the 6S 4400 45C Glaciers and they are lighter and much smaller than the Pulse 6S 4500 45Cs!

Sorry. Wasn't thinking stock 550.  You could go as low as 2200's.  The TP 2700's would be a good choice.
