Put the tail together on mine, always ensure that the pitch bearing with crank connected falls under its own weight.
Mine was a little bit stiff and always polish the shaft with 800 grade wet and dry.
So put a 6mm drill bit in my electric drill, and pushed the brass bush on but all the way up and away from the cutting edges So it was on the smooth part of the drill below the jaws, and polish for a few seconds, applying slight off axis pressure. I could see a brassy colour develop on the drill. Afterwards it was perfectly smooth on the shaft and indeed fell under its own weight.
