VBAR users, what are your tail gain settings?

I thought I had my tail problems nipped in the bud when I took all the slop out from between the spur gear and pin but it seems to have had no effect. The tail still has a rather random twitch and sometimes will swing up to 45 degrees in a hover.

The expert params are set to stock and changing the main gain does little to help. My next approach will be to start tweaking the expert settings but I'm hoping to get some ballpark numbers to start with. On my E5s I just used Mr. Mels suggestion of setting the three numbers to something like 70 and it was gravy.

The engine is a used OS 91sz-h Hyper while I wait for the OS105 to get here. If I found out that the engine was running rough and not putting out smooth, consistent power it would make sense that the tail is all over the place but this is my first nitro and it seems fine to me.

It sounds like you have a bum tail servo more than anything. What do you have and running at how many volts?

Oh really? I never thought about checking that. It's a Futaba BLS256HV running on 2S direct. It's used, but I bought it together with the BLS255HVs I have on the cyclic and they're fine so I never even considered the servo.

I've got an almost brand-new, known good Torq BL9188 I can borrow from my E5s to test that out.

I agree with Rob.  I'm running gain at 100% with the same servo, also on 2S direct.  My tail performance is excellent.

The motor would have to be running nasty rich to cause tail issues like that.

I run 80% in colder weather and 100% in summer.

Around 90 was the sweet spot for my setup.
