New Torq Servos
« on: April 10, 2014, 10:29:10 AM »
Just received an email about the new torque servos.  They look pretty good, especially since the BLS255 won't be an option in the future.  Anyone thinking about trying these on their E7SE?  If someone does in the future, please post a report.  I'm in the research stage now of which components I will use for an E7SE build.  Long range planning right now.  Also, report how it fits in the frame or if any mods were necessary.

Better specs than the 9180 / 9188 and those have been fantastic. So these should be an excellent servo based on the now older models.

Shimming will be required as per the previous models.

Cheers,
Mark

The Futaba BLS272SV replaced the Futaba BLS255 servo.

Yeah i know about the 272, but for now I'm going a different route. I have the new torq cls servos on a different helicopter and love them.  I'm trying to hold out for black friday but I'm not sure if I will be that patient!

Man, that Black Friday is ways away.  The next 10% discounts holidays should be Tax Day (4/15), Eastern Sunday (4/20), Cinco de Mayo (5/5), Mother's Day (5/11), Memorial Day (5/26), Father's Day (6/15), and Independence Day (7/4).

Gee don't remind me about the early sales!!!  I'm trying to wait, but I'm not sure if I will be able to.  Depending on the future I might look at some JR servos also.  From what I recall those fit without any shimming.

From Torq's Facebook page:

Your servo dont have to be a boring looking electronics. The popular high performance TORQ BL9180 HV servo now looks even more ... SEXY, appealing, ...with its new look. Here is the sneak peak of the new TORQ BL9280 and BL9288 HV standard servo. Coming soon !!!

Sure makes them sound like they just changed the cases? I know on their new mini they didn't have the word Outrage on them and the old ones did, this might just be a vehicle to do away with the Outrage brand...

The Torq servos being replaced were also brushless 9180 / 9188. Specs on the latest are better with a re-designed case, now incorporating cooling fins.

MKS manufactures the Torq's. MKS has full titanium gears, where the Torq servos have titanium coated gears. (Which gears are best is debatable).

The Outrage name has been removed and they will be solely branded as Torq servos going forward.

Cheers,
Mark

I am just trying to decide if I want to come off that much money for servos again.  Maybe it is time to sell the other heli that i am not flying anymore.
