So much for that...

I stuffed one of my N7s pretty hard this weekend.  It pretty much hit right on the pipe.  This engine had maybe 2 gallons of fuel through it.  :(  The pipe has a huge dent in it and the mounting flange that attaches to the motor is bent.



The rest of the damage doesn't look too bad.  One of the blade grip arms is destroyed and the usual bent shafts and broken gears.

OUCH!

That is my worst nightmare with nitro. Sucks man!

That Motor Case is Done, sorry to hear that R, make damn sure you check the Tail Output shaft , Tail Spindle, thrust bearings in the tail as well as the Tail Box Bearings (All 4) . I have seen and experienced that before. Tail blades are for the most part intact, but still all the above listed could be bent or compromised in some way... And of course you know to check everything else.

Yes sir, I'll definitely be checking all those things you listed.  It's crazy... one blade grip arm is mangled and bent at 90 degrees right at the screw but the thrust and radial bearings in that blade grip are all smooth as silk. 

I'm not having any luck finding a crankcase for that motor yet so I have plenty of time to do a complete tear down and thorough inspection of everything.

Oh the pain!  Nothing worse when flying nitro than crashing on the pipe.  Hope you were doing something mindboggingly cool before impact though :)

Can't find a crankcase for the 91SRX so it may sit for a while... unless I decide to put a different motor in it.

You might have done this but did you call YS in the USA? That motor is still to new and dealers probably don't have a case. Just a thought.

I tried fixing the muffler with the fill it with water and freeze it trick.  Noooooope, it looks like it's probably a goner.

One of my coworkers had a dented pipe on his KTM 2-stroke dirt bike that a local guy was able to fix so I might give him a try as a last resort.

sorry for your loss man.

wow. that second one there is bad!

gassers are bad about breaking a carb ear off in a bad crash. I would rather come down right on my tail with a gasser than on either side. "knock on wood" I personally have never crashed a gasser, but the ones that I have seen lose TT gear or something its bad....

I had one like that a Bergen intrepid 60 size coming out of a loop radio went into fail safe straight down nose first in to cement, motor was in 3 chunks bent clutch bell and bent clutch shaft lost all servos, but the tail,666 pipe bent very bad, frames shatter. even poked a hole in the tank, it was on her 7th flight, bad day
