What packs are you flying
« on: July 16, 2014, 05:39:51 PM »
Just purchased my first E5. Picking it up on the weekend for its current owner. Exciting. First Synergy, have wanted one for a whole now.

It's a 6s setup. I was wondering what size packs people are flying with and wanted an idea of pros and cons around pack size, weight and flight time.

Thanks
Stu

4000-5000 work great. How heavy / light do you like the feel of your helicopter and what are you planning on running for blades?

Welcome to the Synergy family!  I run 4400 and 5000 in my 6S E5 and I like the lighter ones better.

5,000+mah fit fine, but I prefer the lighter 6S 45C+ 4,400-4,500mah packs.  Good luck!

Hi Stu, congratulations and welcome to the synergy family!  :D

What i do with packs is try to get something that allows the machine to balance perfectly once everything is installed. I use a combination of Optipower Ultra 4300 6S 50C Packs and GensAce 4400 6S 60C Packs.

I am prefering the GensAce at the moment as i use the same packs in my E7se so if needed i can use my E5 packs in my E7se. The GensAce are slightly lighter than the Optipower packs so i could go for a 5000mah pack in the GensAce but i like to make the same packs for both heli's.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

I use
1 glacier 4400 30C
1 Pulse 4500 45C
2 Nano Techs 4500   25C to 50C(What ever that means)

The Glacier and Pulse do well in the E5

I've relegated the Nanos to the Goblin 500
Dany -  Not on any Team  :( maybe some day :)
Synergy E5 CGY-750 (my favorite heli)
Furion 6 Flybarless, Skookum 720
Beam E4(v1) FBL, Skookum 540
Futaba 14sg

Inching my way out of being a newbie...

Thanks for the responses guys... I have a few 6S 3300 pack I use in my TREX 500 so I will start with those and borrow a few different size packs in the 4000-5000 range from the guys at my club and select the ones that give me that combination of flying feel and duration etc..

Appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

Welcome Stu to the Family and congrats on your first Syn. I myself for the Synergy E5 Stretch S run TP 4400mah 65C. I have had great luck with these. The E5 is a great platform to start with, and "Not If" But WHEN you purchase your E7 se ;) what ever battery you choose, think ahead as to what you will be flying once your fleet expands. (12s) set-ups on future machines. Don't kid yourself, you will never own just one Synergy Heli!! Better start figuring out where to put them all!!! Just ask Alan Butler. He is a Synergy Crack Head on our Team, he offers free counseling on how to handle your wife when it comes to all these Heli's , his hours of operation is generally from 9 pm till 4 am. Lol. Welcome aboard.

Best Regards,

Kevin

Now I resemble that remark!  8)

Stu.  Kevin is correct.  This is just the beginning.

I run 4400's TP's on mine.  I also run 4400 12s packs on the E7 usually.  4400's are a good balance of flight time and weight.  the 3300's will give you just enough flight time to wet your whistle.  But if that is what you have it's a good place to start.

Welcome to the Synergy Family.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcomes guys and for the encouragement. I will certainly take the advice re the planning for the future.

I have already purchased two servos as I am in the process of buying components for an E7SE :-)

The obsession has started ...

I run Pulse 6s 4500mah 45C packs, fly great! at 2500HS i get about 3:30 flight time, could get 3:45 but packs are 100+ flights each.

Great power.

I ran my buddies worn down puffing glacier 6s 5000mah 45C packs and couldn't tell a difference, came down same voltage etc.

I recommend 4400-4500mah or so for 6s, lighter and same flight time from what i've heard.

Thanks, there seems to be a general consciences that the 4400-4500 provide a good balance between weight and flight times.

I run 4400 SkiLipos and 4500 Pulse in my E5.  I run low head speed so get 6.5 minutes per pack.
