A bit late but Hi...
« on: August 10, 2014, 11:08:08 AM »
I have been in the E5 forum now for a couple of weeks.  Hi from Nova Scotia.  E5 is built and ready to go as soon as the rain stops (seems like it rains steady this year).

Hi James,

Congratulations on your E5 and welcome to the Synergy family!  :)

Keep us posted on your maiden, it does seem to have been steady this year although we are having heavy rain and thunderstorms here in the UK at the moment!  :(

Keep us posted on your maiden and enjoy the E5 it's a fantastic machine.
Cheers,
Ross

I only managed a test hover yesterday in between showers.  The sk540 needs a bit of tuning for tail gain but other than that I have never had a heli be so steady with 0% expo.  It was so easy to control and stable I didn't even notice I had no expo (I normally run 20% on all my models) until I had it powered up to setup the sk gov today.  Can't wait for the rain to stop, 3 flight packs (12cell 3300mah setup) ready to go.

I really think after just one pack hovering this is going to be my goto heli.  Already thinking I might like to have a second to replace my align.  My 500pro can't hover or fly as nice as I think this one can, but then it is a mass produced lower end brand in my opinion.

Electronics wise I went with :

Scorpion 3536-510kv motor (good price)
savox 1258tg on cyclic and savox 1290mg (I think it was) for the tail.
castle edge 120hv esc
sk540
wr super bec pro

The only thing I wish I could of changed if I had the money was a new radio.  I want to try a futaba 14sg and step away from my spectrum dx7s.  The extra channels would be nice with all the options sk offer for channel setup.

my E5 is my go to bird now too. you will love it. its an amazing bird.

what I do is stretch the bird to the 626mm blades when I am going to the field, or a fly in, and then "shrink" it back down to 550mm blades during the week to fly at the field next to my house. its not hard if you buy an entire tail setup and extra motor mount. just swap them out. I use a jumper plug to go from 12 cell to 6 cell between the 2 different sizes as well.

Huge field right behind my house.  No need to shrink it down.  I want to check the bolts holding the head on to see if one is loose.   The shakes until ut came up to speed indicate something is off.

Yup, I agree with Gasser Mike, My Synergy's wobble until they get up to speed, but it never hurts to go over your bird to make sure. You know , if you really want a 14sg I noticed that Tower has the flex pay going on that I think a few friends bought their 14sg that way. Just a tought.
