Required Tightness - Jesus Bolt
« on: August 10, 2014, 09:58:21 PM »
How tight should it be?  We have read 'not tight' so I tested the extreme case and I flew 3 flights last weekend with no nuts on the main gear cross bolt or the collar above the gear.

They didn't move a bit. :)

You want to tighten it just enough to take up the slack between the nut and the collar.  The plastic lock nut shouldn't back out unless it's worn out.

Did you catch that this nut  flew without ANY nut and it did not move.   People should have 100% confidence in the directions to barely tighten.

Feel free to make fun of my poor pre-flight!

My N7 ended up in a tree at a fun fly earlier this year after I lost the Jesus bolt.  I guess I can't really say that it was bad luck in that case, though, because there was zero damage.  Probably the weirdest crash I've ever had.

You'd think that with the crowd we had gathered around while someone climbed up and got it, someone would have taken some pictures but, no. :(  I think everyone was so shocked that it was just sitting there with no damage, nobody thought to snap any pictures.

I used it as an excuse to upgrade from the YS 91SRX to the YS 120SRX, LOL.

hahaha. how is the mid tuning on that 120? the guys at my field caught absolute hell trying to tune out the "four stroking" as I call it in a hover. but had tons of power on the top......

I am loving my new N7 with a 105 in it. I am actually looking for another one now! lol
