Belt issue
« on: November 05, 2011, 01:44:49 PM »
Ok so this is my first 90 sized bird with a belt. Truth be told the only other belt driven tail I have ever had was a sport 450 I didn't fly much.

I just finished my maiden flight on my new e7, flies awesome! But when foldin up the blades I noticed a lot of black power on the tail blades and tail case. It seems to be coming from the belt. Now I inspected the belt, doesn't look cracked or frayed.

Is this normal? Have I done something wrong? I followed Matt's tail tension trick on the synergy forums and I don't think it is too tight.

I don't remember having this on my other e7 and I flew it a couple of times before having to sell.

Thoughts?

No it's not normal make sure that the flat spot on the bottom spacer is facing up so it does not touch the belt, or just remove it, you don't really need it.

Yes ! The flat spor is very important !!

Also, check if your belt tension idler  spin free !

This is very important! Check if the M3 x 35 socket head are not too tight ! The bearing in the idler have no spacer !

Thank's !

Belt doesn't look too bad. I only did a little hovering to check FBL setup and tracking. Still going to spray the belt with some silicone. Trying some forward flight tomorrow.

If the bottom spacer is not installed then I'm stumped. Every time I saw this belt issue it was caused by that spacer, is the belt tight enough? could it be touching something else?

We figured it out. Was the idler pulley at the tail case. I have the
Bolt too tight and the idler wasn't spinning. The dust is actually specs of rubber that had begun burning off. Thankfully I only do one battery and check my build after each maiden.
