Thanks Zack for the pic.  Indeed, the belt does have a different part #.  Not saying this is a better belt but according to the email Matt sent to Zack, he did use a different manufacturer...

Interesting. Didn't mean to doubt you Zack, I hadn't heard anything about a new belt. Dealer websites must not be updated yet either.

Is Mikado's 770xl belt compatible with the E7?

I heard it was.  Someone PMed me from another forum and told me they're using that belt on the E7.  But that belt is twice the price of the one from Synergy...

If Mikados belt is Polyurethane, then I would NOT use it. I have seen pictures of the teeth on polyurethane belts being absolutely destroyed! Just a word of caution.

No problem glad I can help, and that I'm not the only one with that belt! So now does experience rc or Ron Lund have the 770Xl belt or the other one from the different manufacture?

Thanks!

The Logo 600SE belt is a 770XL, and yes it does fit perfectly, if you want to try one.  I'm actually flying that belt as a test.
It's an older one that has seen 300 flights on an SE, with no shredded teeth  ;D  It's still in mint condition.

Although the 700E will be harder on belts, with the higher rpm, weight and possibly a higher wattage motor.

I think the stock belt is fine if you don't over-stress it with abrupt tail stops and use good collective management.

My belt snapped in flight as well.  I had been fighting a belt slipping problem so I sure the slipping fatigued the belt to the point that it caused the failure.  I was doing some piro manuevers when the belt snapped and ejected out of the back of the boom in two seperate pieces.  I got lucky as the second piece almost got tangled in the rotorhead.  I was able to auto it down without any damage.  The belt took out the tail bellcrank on its way out.

Just to clarify on the "new belt vs old belt" I spoke with Matt and both belts will be just fine. They are virtually the same thing. One shouldn't be stronger or higher quality than the other. They are just a different manufacturer. So for those of you running one of the 770XL belts, don't think you need to upgrade. It will work just as well as the SDP 6R3-385031 belt.

Best Regards,
Steve

NOTE: Just going to clarify a few things again that are already stated in the E6/7 tips n tricks:

When installing your belt:

1. Make sure there are no CREASES in it, a bend is ok.
2. Adjust your belt tension from the bottom of the tail case. The all up weight of the helicopter should compress the belt about half the distance to the top.
3. Once the belt is installed, spray the entire belt with silicone. No need to go lightly on this! Coat that baby down!!!!
4. After the first few flights check and re adjust your belt tension. The belt will break in during the first few flights and stretch itself out.

If you have your belt too tight you could be setting it up for failure. Make sure your tail stop gain is not set too high, this can also be potential for failure. Right pirouette maneuvers will put a larger load on the belt and again could cause failure if the belt is too tight.

I myself am very hard on the tail in both right and left pirouette maneuvers and I have not had an issue yet. I use the 770XL belt.

Best Regards,
