OK, I moved the tail box 8mm further rearward and re-pinned it, which required a slightly longer tail control rod, which luckily I just happened to have on hand from a previous build. I installed the Rail 716/116 combo. Yikes. On the bench, even with 8mm more boom to work with, it is *very* close. In fact, I was able to manually flex the main blades in just such a way that allowed the very tips of the main and tail blades to barely touch. Now I don't know if they would ever do that in flight, but I'm not about to take that chance.

As an alternative, I swapped the Rail 716's for Radix V2 710's, and I left the Rail 116's on the tail. That combo provides *barely* enough clearance. Took it to the field with that setup, and with the gov gains dialed all the way down, the 116's held. But when I started easing the gov gains back up, the kick outs returned.

As much as I love the long blades on the E7SE, I think I have finally resigned myself to the reality that they just aren't meant to be for me, at least on this machine.

So...tomorrow, the Rail 716's and Radix V2 710's are heading to the storage closet in favor of some Rail 696's. I'm going to leave the Rail 116's on the tail because, with this much torque, the tail needs all the authority I can give it.

I guess Rail 716/116 didn't work out to be heli nirvana after all for my E7SE, but hopefully the Rail 696/116 setup will be.

So...the Rail 696/116 combo is working quite well with my setup. Tail holds well with mild governor gains. I haven't tried to push the gov settings up very aggressively yet, but I will probably experiment with that the next time at the field.

One of these days, I might give the 716's another go perhaps with a different rudder servo. Or, if I get really ambitious, I might try stretching the boom and TT about 15-20mm so that I could run the 716's with 116 tails...

But for now, I'm just going to enjoy flying my new E7SE with 696's.   ;D

I have a few hundred flights on mine with no issues.....716mm mains, and 116mm tails...no modifications at all...stock boom length, didn't move any tail boxes, didn't do anything.

I have one standard E7, then one with a conversion lowered head. it isn't as low as the E7SE, but very close.
