I want to swap the stock E5 plastic tail slider assembly with the beefier SE metal tail pitch slider assembly (part 200-411).  I know to apply Loctite to the pivot ball.  However, I am not able to remove the brass tail pitch slider.  I believe it has left-handed threads.  Was this brass slider assembled with Loctite at the factory?  Should I not bother trying to remove the brass slider?  Thanks.

Hi Curmudgeon,

The SE tail pitch slider (Part:200-411) will be assembled dry from the factory, it is a L/H thread so is opposite to the normal proceedure for tightening and loosening.

I clean the surfaces with a little cleaning solvent and then use a very small amount of red loctite, make sure not to use too much and get it in the bearings. What i usually do is apply a small amount to the start of the threaded section and work it around with my finger and wipe off any excess. The threads are quite fine and only a small amount of loctite is needed. I then thread on the pitch fork plate and tighten it down, making sure not to overtighten and stress the bearings.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

I am trying to remove the brash slider.  I am treating it as a left-handed thread.  However, the brass slide will not budge.  If am afraid that if I keep trying to remove it, I'll just end up braking it.

Considering that the brass slider has left-handed threads, wouldn't it have a tendency for tightening more when the tail blades spin?

If the tail blades spin counter clockwise the brass will spin in the direction and tighten it self. As for the torque tube nitro users it will loosen.

I have removed mine and loctited with blue. You will more than just a pair of pliers. I believe I used a vice and a wrench.

OK.  I was finally able to get the brass slider loose.  I took a leap of faith in knowing that the brass slider would eventually loosen and before it got destroyed.  I'm not sure why it was so tight to begin with.

Good to know mine seems to be wobbling a bit and making a noise. Thinking of breaking it down to check the bearings. May have hurt the slider with the last crash.

I am in the process of building a new E5 as well.  I could not get the tail slider lock ring off of the tail pitch slider bushing to loctite it to the pitch plate. Is there a trick to removing it?  I left alone and added CA to the lock ring as suggested in the instructions.

I was going to ask if we could use the SE Tail Slider assembly on the E5, and I assume the answer is "yes" based on this thread.

Thanks

yes you can. it fits perfectly on all of the 6mm output shafts. i really like the way it looks. i have not had a single issue (knock on wood) with my plastic ones though, so i have been replacing them one by one as i damage them :)
