First E5. First build
« on: September 28, 2014, 06:25:25 PM »
Ok guys I have been flying BNF stuff and have almost completed the build on the E5.

I am setting it up as a normal E5 (not stretched )
6S 5000 battery
Scorpion 4025 1100 motor
CC 120 ESC
CC pro BEC
BeastX FBL controller
Spectrum 6i TX

All the wiring directions and such look very straightforward I am not seeing and big challenges there.

But what about suggested throttle curves, pitch curves and so forth?

As of now I am just sport flying, loops, rolls, tail stall turns, inverted stuff......

I know I can just start with a basic generic curve but I suspect you guys have learned the machine and could help me out.

BTW I am very happy with my 450X but WOW the Synergy quality is amazing.

I prefer to use the governor for consistent head speed from beginning to end.  I use the VBar governor, but the Castle governor should do well for sports flying.

As a rule of thumb, the 96mm tail blades spin optimally between 9,500 and 10,000rpm.  If you use the stock 4.0:1 tail gear ratio, that equals to a head speed of between 2,375rpm and 2,500rpm.  If you go with the optional 4.5:1 tail gear ratio, then the optimal head speed would be between 2,111rpm and 2,222rpm.

I used dx8 and ikon and its great. I have never used a governor before, so much easier.

BK servos

I am interested in learning how well the BK servos work with the CC BEC Pro.  I have not had any issues with either the Futaba BLS255/256HV or the MKS HBL950/980HV servos powered by the CC BEC Pro at 7.5V.  Still, I am interested in learning how energy efficient the BK servos are, and whether they could "overwhelm" the BEC Pro.  Just a few questions.

1) What output voltage will you set the BEC Pro?  I routinely set it to 7.5v for HV servos.
2) What BK servos will you be using?  The coreless 7001HV's or the brushless 8001HV's?  I understand the brushless servos are generally more energy efficient.

At the last minute on my e-5 build I put the bk DS7001hv  on my e-5 cyclic servos, Mks tail servo at the 7.4 v and have been very pleased there fast and powerfull. I think there fair priced too

I am switching over from the bls255/256 combo to BK servos next week once the order goes through.  I love them on my E7se.
Let us know if you need anything Mike.

Mike make sure you locktight the pin in the tail gear and the pin in the tail drive.

The coreless ones are the ones I use as well. 7001... Work great with my CC BEC PRO.

OK.  So you guys are running the coreless BK DS-7001HV cyclic servos and the coreless DS-7005HV tail servo powered by the CC BEC Pro without brown-outs or glitches.  That's encouraging.  How high are you running the voltage?  7.5V?  8.0V?

I would think you would want to run them at the highest voltage you can to lower the current draw.
