Hi! New N7 owner checking in.

Just popping in to say hi! Proud owner of a new N7 kit. The build so far has been good and the heli looks like its going to be awesome, i have had a few minor niggles so far though (I believe they are common things..) so am just here to read up on the experiences others have had with their kits and hopefully find out some tips for the rest of the build.

My Heli:
Synergy N7
OS105HZ/R with Hatori 2105 105FS-3D turning Rail 696's on top and 106's on the back
Spartan Vortex Vx1 (Full unit with remote sensor and gov)
MKS HBL950s on cyclic and throttle
MKS HBL980 on tail
JR DMSS

I also have a couple of T-Rex 450's and a Raptor 50V2 which I love. However my purchase of the N7 was driven entirely by me crashing my now hated Raptor G4 this Christmas day and not being able to get basic stuff like booms and torque tubes for it. Parts availability in the UK for the G4 is so shockingly bad I thought i'd cut my losses and go with something that is a bit better supported (and cheaper) when you bend it, which seems to be happening to me a lot recently... so Synergy, don't let me down!!! Though from what i've seen so far, that won't be a problem :D

Anyway looking forward to browsing the forums so off I go!

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. I already love this machine and I've barely started the build!

Unfortunately I originally purchased the servos at the same time as the kit and the servos that I got, being a bit of a JR guy JRSLS01 & SPG01 c/w QRS connectors are too shallow to fit in the bearing blocks even when hard mounted. I would love to use them though, they are silent and powerful and have a little JR logo on them which is obviously the best bit. (I have no shame)

Its only shy by a couple of mm at the very most so a few seconds with a Dremel grinding wheel could make it work but I don't really want to go grinding a new kits bearing blocks, so I have opted for the slightly more expensive and fatter MKS 950/980 combo, although there is no problem mounting the SPG01 in the frame slots for the tail and an SLS01 for throttle, I just need things to be the same...

Is there a redesign of the bearing blocks on the cards? It looks like all it needs is a slight curve in the rear cross brace on the bearing blocks, maybe even just a reduction in the thickness of that cross brace? I know it is a common problem with these shallower servos and the N7 so was just wondering if a fix was planned or if this is a ploy to get us to all fly Futaba!

The only other thing so far that I've found a bit upsetting was the lack of countersinking on the battery/radio tray carbon fibre plate fixing holes, need to order some button heads to replace the countersunk phillips heads with, its not a massive big deal, normally I'd have some stainless socket heads or something I could use but due to several pilot errors with the 450's recently, I'm all out of spares ...

All in all though the quality of the kit has been very high, I really don't think I've ever seen such clean carbon pieces! I can't wait until the end of the month so I can get the new servos and get the build and setup complete and the maiden flight and tuning out of the way ready for the summer.

Will post some pics of the finished heli as soon as it's done!

I too am using the MKS HBL950s on cyclic and MKS HBL980 on tail. However, you will need to space the MKS servos out. The left and right servos hit one another in the center of the frame...and to keep the links going to the swashplate straight up and down. Place the servo arm ball on the inside of the carbon horn. The spacer will be around 6mm thick (and roughly 4mm thick for the rear (elevator) servo, ball on the out side). Plus you will need to get longer servo screws to compensate for the spacers for the two side servos.

I have one flight on mine, also running the VX1n controller. It is awesome!!! I have a little adjusting to do in the Spartan controller, but that's basically to taste. With mine, there is a little cyclic oscillation I need to adjust down. Outside of that, it's almost hands free handling.

Mine has the following;

OS105HZ/R with MP7, HeliX 715, 104 KBDD on the back
Spartan Vortex VX1n
MKS HBL950s on cyclic
Savox 1290 on throttle
MKS HBL980 on tail
2 Spektrum DSMX

didn't think it was any problem as, well it just works. I just saw rcnut's comment about 6mm spacer for pitch and aile and 4mm for elev, just seemed like a lot to me so was wondering what he used to get that kind of spacing which resulted in him putting balls on back of horns...

Like I say, with the standard 2ish mm servo retainer installed it does not effect the horn to swash geometry in such a way that rear mounting of balls on horns is required.

Anyway, another weekend and another chance to get her finished... doing electronics install and wiring, my least favourite bit of any build. hopefully will post some pics soon but I imagine its going to look pretty much exactly the same as 80% of the N7's out there! Well without Futaba and Spektrum lowering the tone on it at least!!!
