New Synergy owner
« on: July 11, 2015, 02:26:44 PM »
Hello!

My name is Trond Andresen, I am 51 years old and I live in Norway, where nobody stocks Synergy! Why did I go for Synergy? Well, I got a good offer to buy a almost new E5 and I looked at it and liked what I saw. Much better solutions, easier to work at and almost no plastic compared to my Align helicopters. Fast Lad in England stocks Synergy and that is not so far away from Norway and takes less time and money to get parts from than USA.

My E5 is fitted with a Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100kV motor, Castle Phoenix Edge 130A esc, Align DS615 servos on cyclic and Align DS655 on tail, Futaba S-Bus, Ikon flybarless system (my first flybarless helicopter) and Rail 556 blades. I use Optipower 6S 5000mAh 50C batteries. This package performs beautifully with a lot of power, much more power than my Align Trex 600Nitro. And the powersurplus led to me crashing it after some 10 flights. I went full power inverted piruette and lost the helicopter out of sight and lost orientation. It was hard wind and the helicpter was blown out of sight and into the ground. I am not a hard core 3D pilot, more a sport flyer, but I hope to get better to do some 3D and crash less than I have done until now.

Rebuilding the helicopter was a pleasure compared to Align, but I had to order parts from both England and USA, so it took its time. Two things I didn't like during the rebuild was that the tailboom is not predrilled for pinning. I find it difficult to drill these holes accurate. And the screw fixing system of the landing skids is hopelessly intricate. Luckily one can use M4 set screws instead. Now the bird is up and flying beautifully again.

I have also purchased a N7 kit and built it with a O.S. 105 HZ-R with Powerboost pipe, Ikon flybarless system, Align BL815H HV servos on cyclic, Align BL855H HV on tail and a Futaba BLS471SV  servo on throttle. All servoes are HV so I can run direct 2S LiPo, Futaba S-Bus, Align governor sensor, and recommended blade size. The kit went toghether beautifully apart from the mentioned lacking of predrilled pin holes for the tail boom and the troublesome fixing of the landing skids. A few holes in the frames needed to be drilled up a bit. As I am not a very experienced pilot, I had someone to help me with the first flights and tuning. We had set up the auto-leveling feature of the Ikon system as I thought it may help me when I get in trouble. What happened on the second flight was that the auto-level function was accidentially activated when i hover a couple of meter above ground. The helicopter immediately went into inverted and went into the ground. Very dissapointing indeed. I tried to contact Ikon about this, but got no answer. So now I am waiting for parts again. Next time it will not be flown with the auto-level feature!

Also I have purchased a E7se kit that I am about to build, but I have to save up a bit for the equipment for it. I am going to use a Kontronik Kosmik Cool 160A esc, Kontronik Pyro 750-50L 500kV motor and the same Align HV servoes as the N7. Ikon flybarless system, Futaba S-Bus, Rail 696 and 106 blades. Maybe I should have used larger blades as the motor I am going to use is 500kV and the recommended Scorpion motor is 520kV.

I am looking forward to have all three Synergy helicopters airworthy. Many parts for the E5, N7 and E7se are common and that helps with parts and keeping them in the air.

My old helicopter park of a Align Trex 600 Nitro, a 600 Electric and a 450 sport will probably not be much used when my Synergys are ready!

I find this forum to be very interesting and useful, and are looking forward to using it a lot.

Today I got 5 flights on my E5 and 5 flights on my Sebart Wind 50e F3A airplane in beautiful summer weather here in Norway. Actually I am an rc airplane pilot from the beginning in 1978. I didn't try helicopters before 2010. The reason i got into helicopters was because of the Realflight simulator I bought and I had to try the helicopers of course! And as I eventually managed to handle the helicopters it was fun and I had to get a real one!

Welcome to the Synergy Family and Glad to see your enjoying your heli's. I think there are a lot of us Helicopter pilots that began as airplane flyers and transitioned over at some point. Remember we are here if you have a question about your e7se build or e5 / n7 . Look forward to maybe seeing some videos of you flying your Synergy's in Norway.

Thanks,
Rick

Trond, Welcome to the Family and so far it looks like your headed the right direction with the fleet. You have a great line up for sure. I will say that pinning the tail boom requires a steady hand but certainly overall you won't find a better built Machine or Brand for that matter. And to add to that a better support group. The Synergy Family is a world wide network of guys and gals that share the same passion as you. With that being said Distance isn't a factor, the family is also know to send parts in the event a hobby shop runs low or in some cases don't sell the piece of equipment you need. It's an awesome group with unlimited talent. I myself started backwards in the hobby, I learned how to fly Helis before I ever flew planes, I can say for me it worked out great...  again welcome..

Best Regards,

Kevin

Welcome to the Synergy family, sounds like you're off to a great start! The 500kv motor will do great in the E7se with 696s, you can always move up to a bigger pinion if you want more headspeed. Cheers!

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply. I have not transitioned over to helicopter, I enjoy both airplanes and helicopters. And I am a much better airplane pilot than a helipilot! But I find the helicopters facinating. Videos of my mediocre heliflying will have to wait until I get much better to fly helis!

Thank you for your reply and useful information. I know I will not find a better quality helicopter than Synergy, but the perfect one is not made yet!
