The E5 is a true 550 size not a 500.
It is a big machine makes the TRex 500 & 550 look small.
Here is a photo of my E5 behind a Goblin 500 and a Beam E4(450 size)

wow that does look big, I stretched my x4 to run 500 mm blades and I like the size , I like that's its made in America , and I would like to support his company, are there any downsides to the e5.

None.  I love mine.  I just put the standard stretch kit and 620mm blades on mine.

I've not found a down side to date. I fly mine on 6s with 4400 or 4500mah packs. I'm thinking of getting a second one to stretch to 600 or more.

Why should you choose the E5? Because it is made out of Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks and real tornadoes! Seriously, its the only bird that can give you a configurable platform that can go from a 550 to a 700 machine with very little modification. It is built like a tank and can be flown in any manner. It will take anything you can dish out. The kit is first class in  machining and design and no one else has a group of more knowledgeable personnel to help you along the way with any question you can fathom.

Here are some pics to give you an idea how the E5 compares to other helis.

This pic shows a T-Rex 550 v1 next to the E5

These 2 pics show from left to right:  Goblin 570, T-Rex 550 v1, and Synergy E5.

This pic shows the Goblin 570 (bottom) next to the Synergy E5.  I lined up the helis at the main shaft.  The Goblin 570 has a longer tail, but the E5 has a longer canopy.  A larger canopy can accommodate electronics and wires more easily.

This pic has the T-Rex 550 and the E5 lined up at the main shaft.  The E5 is longer than the T-Rex 550 on both ends.

Another pic comparing the Goblin 570, T-Rex 550, and Synergy E5.

I sold the T-Rex 550 and the Goblin 570 air frame and kept the E5 as my workhorse heli.  The Synergy E5 overall has much better quality components than either of the other two helis.

Just do it!!! The E5 is one of... if not THE most versatile machine on the market today. Mine is configured to run 12s with 626mm blades and I love it. Very strong, super fast, agile, light, and autos great!

CGY works great on the synergy birds. There are several team guys including Matt who know the CGY well. Don't be afraid to ask for help if your tail is misbehaving.  I will say the CGY like vbar really likes a 760 center pulse servo. The narrow band helps the servo react faster.  I had a tail bounce on my N7 and replacing the 1520 tail servo fixed it.
