flying time
« on: September 02, 2015, 05:51:57 AM »
In my E5 I am running a Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100kv motor and Optipower 6S 5000mAh 50C batteries. This only gives me 4 minutes running time. If I fly only on idleup1 I get around 5 minutes. I feel this is a bit short running time, but I understand that there is probable little to do with. Running in Idleup1 I feel that there is not enough power to really do hard 3D. Not that I am a hardcore 3D pilot, but I like to push the bird a little sometimes.

Hi Cliff!
Thank you for your reply. I now have 231 flight on my E5, mostly running in Idleup1. Now rebuilding it after the uavoidable crash with 231 flights without a crash. New record for me!

Hi Cliff
Jup, nano techs should be avoided as most of the Hobbyking type batteries. One thing is poor performance and endurance, bit worse is that there are quite a few examples of them catching fire both during use and charging, and even during storage. Gens Ace is a sure card, well proven quality.

MY batteries are starting to swell after a flight just in the last 2 months there a year old. I got a set of e7  batteries 4500 from HK proved to them that had a bad cell on m y I 308  charger. they say its fine to drop almost a full volt lower in  that cell. I land 5 cells have 3,82 bad cell will have 3.69. They say that's ok, I don't think so. Today I bought some new glaciers 6s  4500s  hope to have for the wekend

I use Optipower 6S 5000mAh 50C and a couple of  Nano Tech 6S 5000mAh. The Optipowers are supreme with no swelling, more power and longer running time, but they are pricey. The Nano Techs have heavy swelling and shorter running time but still good punch, so I haven't had the heart to discard them yet.

that is average flight time with this heli, I would actually say it is better than average. I get 3-3:30 with mine at 2350-2500HS flying it hard the entire flight.
