N7 Shortened, want to run 626 blades, Anybody else try this?
« on: September 23, 2015, 02:53:37 PM »
I understand that the correct pinion is available to run the correct RPM with shorter blades.

I have  a couple Trex 600 's with YS 91 3DS in them, and they are a blast.

Just want to here any feedback about other people's experience.

Thanks in advance.

Very interested  let me know you thoughts and findings. The N7 is probably the lightest 700 to do that with and easy with a tail boom and push rod swap.

The problem is weight. Power/rpm doesn't overcome weight. The old trex 600 is about 3-4lbs lighter than the n7 because it's a 50 size. Even a 600 electric is lighter than the n7 by a good measure, with 3x the power. :)

Thanks Rob

Makes Sense

I approached Matt a couple of years ago about making a pinion for the N5C, he did not want to as it would bring out whatever weak point there was in the drive train, that was not designed for a 90 size motor.
Matt did address this issue with the N7, with the pinion choices available

On the Trex 600 the weak link was the 600 size clutch.
About 18 months ago, I figured out how to squeeze the 700 clutch in the 600 frame, and now the drivetrain has no weak link.

I also did this big block mod with a Fury 55
Miniature made up some pinions for me, and the drive train held up.

I love nitro, and The 6-8 min. Flight times.

I love electrics because of the power to weight ratios.

I love Synergy, because I am not stripping TT gears in flight, as well as the gearing options, not to mention the overall quality.

Thanks for the input Rob

the other pinion is not for making the n7 smaller, it is for the GT15HZ gas motor and getting the ratio right for it. however, that motor is a piece of junk. lol
