Dan,

I wish I could say yea! However, the club doesn't want a heli fun fly...it doesn't bring in enough money for them. They want at least $400+ for a one day fun fly in order to consider us having a heli fun fly. Our new President, for this year, doesn't like heli's to begin with...or me for that matter...long story.

Where at are you in WI? If close enough [or meet half way], we could get together and fly!!! This way we could fly our 766's together! Mark and I have a place to fly away from the club.

I am in the process of assembling my 766, hence the reason for asking about the Xnova motor. I'm not that "up" on the electrics.
I love the smell of Nitro in the morning!

That sucks. Ask them how much money they make with airplane funflys....haha
I would definitely like to meetup to do some flying, I am just a few miles North of Madison The only field that I know of between us, Beloit, is not exactly heli friendly either. I was at a fun fly there later last summer and we were in a corner by the road with the power lines and a tree  ::) ::) My house is great, I have got a shelter, power, and a 20x20 concrete pad. I could come down that way also, or if you know of another place in the middle!

Ok Dan...working on it! Until we can find a somewhat middle ground...maybe we can take turns...your place, our place, etc.

I was thinking of trying the Xnova XTS 4530-525 with a 120A ESC.

Like maybe the:
CC 160HV Phoenix Edge
Scorpion Commander 160A ESC Opto
Hobbywing Platinum Pro V4 160HV

12 cell setup with a head speed of 1950-2000, on the 766 configuration...

I'd go for the hobby wing 160. That'll future proof you if you ever wanted to go 14s. With the xnova 4530-525 you'll want a 160a esc, I think you'd make a 120a a little mad.
Thanks,

JM

I have one of those new Hobbywing v4s on the way. Looking forward to trying it out.

I was leaning towards the Hobbywing 160 as well. I read good things about this ESC and I wouldn't mind trying one out. Although I'm not a smack 3D pilot and might never come close to stressing this ESC out, it will be fun to see how well it works with the XTS 4530-525 motor.

The XTS 4530-525 is "Recommended for specially 12S", could I run this motor on 14S? The wire gauge is thicker (1.5mm vs. 1.4mm XTS 4530-480), and the current rating is higher (150A vs. 130A continuous XTS 4530-480). With the XTS 4530-480, I would need the 14T pinion to obtain a 2K head speed.

And what is 4+5YY mean?

I love the smell of Nitro in the morning!
