E7 lipos
« on: January 29, 2012, 01:32:21 PM »
Hello all,

ok first couple of questions. Having blown the budget get my hanger queen & electrics going for cheap lipos for now. Question is which size ? I can get 5000mah 30c Turnigy packs for less than 4500mah but will the 5000mah packs be to heavy for sport/v mild 3d? using 510mx & jazz 120 governed to 2100 with a 12 tooth pinion if that's correct?.

cheers

I assume you mean Jive 120?  For a 510kv motor and your target headspeed, 12T should work fine.

As far as batteries, I'm pretty sure 5000mAh is no problem but something smaller is preferred for smackdown 3D.  I run 12s Gens Ace 25C 4000mAh packs which work well for E6 and E7 configuration.

long way off smack 3d and would prefer a longer flight time so looks like the 5000mah will do the job, thanks Darren

5000 in the E7 will be Ok, a bit on the heavy side but they will work without a problem.

I run a set of Hyperion 4200s and a volts 12s 3700 stick pack. The e7 handles the 4200s for sure but there is a noticeable extra pop in the collective on the smaller batteries.

I would say if I were buying more batteries I would buy 4000s. Nice balance.

With the 4200s and a head speed governed at 2200, I get 6 minutes of sport and big air type flying. Packs are at 3.8-3.9 per cell.

On the 3700 I land at 5 minutes and packs are about the same.

I use TP 5000's and Gens Ace 4000's in my E7, flies great for 3d or sport. I would buy Gens Ace 4000's or 5300's if on a budget.

Gens Ace 6s 4000's are the best flight time/power/weight solution that I have found on the market....with a budget. Otherwise Thunder Power 65's are the only choice in my opinion.

Awesome flying a under 10 lb 700 machine!

I fly fast big air sports, no hard 3d at all and it's perfect with 5000's. Total pack weight around 1500g and it feels fine in the air, defo not heavy. In fact it feels quite light on 5000's compared to most.

thanks to everyone for the advise, as my flying style is split between sport & a bit of 3d think I will do the same with the lipo packs and go for 4500mah.

Govern the headspeed at 2100 and you will get great flight times with 4400mah packs.
