E7 Project

Here is my E7 that I've been slowly piecing together for the past couple of months.

I went with the following:
KDE Direct 700xf-495
CC Ice 169
CC BEC Pro
Spektrum Beast combo
JR 8917
Futaba 256
RC Booya mounts
TP 5000
Starting with the 14t pinion

The build went very smooth.  Pretty much the only minor issues that I had were the need to modify some ball link pliers, and the need to modify the JR servo arms.  I wanted the black CF arms on the top of the white JR arms.  Of course Futaba arms fit perfectly.   

Hopefully this weekend I can get this thing airborne if the weather in the Twin Cities is OK.

Build looks perfect. Just to point out the carbon fiber servo arms are suppose to go on the back side (servo side) of the servo wheel. It makes the arm/swash geometry perfect.

Yeah, trust me I tried.  The JR servos that I used just do not have the room for the fastening hardware on the back side for the way it was intended.  It would rub up against the servo.  I though about putting a spacer to stand-off it a bit, but did not like the fact that all of the ribbed spline would possibly not be in contact with the servo arm anymore.  I compared both ways, and am thinking that the small amount of change shouldn't make that big of a difference.   Different brands of servos and different arms that you would mount to have variances of width, and height.  If would do it again, I would buy Futaba cyclics for the sake of ease.

It's all good, didn't want to come off as a know it all but I didn't notice on mine till after all three where installed.......

I know it will still fly perfect. Don't forget the video......

It lives!

Finally got it in the air for a few minutes today.

I was able to drag my wife out to video it for me. Now if the autofocus on the camera would have cooperated as good as the E7, it would be awesome!!!

This was about a headspeed of 1850. About a minute it clicked it to 2000 just to make sure the setup was ok. I noticed a small tail kick when pumping it up, and another at the end when I put it in hold. Other then that, I couldn't have asked for anything better! The thing was pretty much rock solid. Can't wait to wring it out with some wild 2d.

Yep.  When it gets colder up here, the number of possible safe flying sites goes up exponentially.   And during the winter, if it gets close to 30 up here, and not too windy, it's a good day for flying!

One of the Twin Cities Clubs has a heli fly scheduled next weekend on a local frozen "temporary" field. 
We've been very lucky this winter if you don't like to shovel/blow snow.  Unfortunately, it looks like that's going to change in the next couple of days.
