E7 tail hesitation?
« on: March 03, 2012, 12:21:18 PM »
I maddened my E7 last weekend and i gotta say what a heli !. The heli just flys so smoothly. I did encounter some tail problems though. I was doing some climbs and then tail would kick out 90 degrees. this also happened when doing some hard 3d. I have now put the tail compensation on low on the BEASTX which has made it a lot better but when doing hard piro manoeuvres and then combining pitch pumps the tail would hesitate and wouldn't give a constant piro rate?

I am currently having a similar issue with my E7 and BEASTX but haven't had much time to troubleshoot it, so if you find a solution please post it. Like Tommy, I had tail issues with a BEASTX on a 450. The main problem I had was that I could not piro right during FFF. As I begin executing a right piro the helicopter would rotate about 30-45 degrees then stop abruptly and eventually the tail would whip around and overly compensate. I spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this and eventually gave up and sold it to get the E7. During my troubleshooting of the 450 I learned that excessive vibrations will confuse the BEASTX and make it do weird things, so if you haven't already, check for vibrations. Tommy were you experiencing a similar problem to mine on the 450?

In case you haven't seen this yet.

Yes the piro was very whippy  like You said i sold the beast and got another total g
I thought is was the Heli but I don't have the issue with the total g

I know there is quite a few people with the beast on there E7 with no issues hopefully some knows the fix.

I also have a BEASTX on my Elyq vision 90 and the tail is perfect on it. Im guessing the extra torque is stressing the gyro inside the beastx which is causing this. I think the problem is that you can't adjust the tail compensation accurately unlike the vbar when you can lower the percentage, beastx only has low or high. As i said though guys i have low tail compensation turned on which stops the tail kicking out but when being really aggressive it isn't giving me a constant piro

What ESC are you using I remember with the castle the beast tail was sensitive to the GOV gain it seemed a little better in fixed endpoint mode

Just a thought

BeastX at 3.0 firmware has low, mid and high on tail comp. Also new at 3.0, if you have the USB dongle and download the software, you can set tail comp seamlessly as a %.

I have just found out about this software. I shall play around with it. My beastx is version 3 but I cant see no medium setting.

Sorry, my mistake. 3.0 still only has two settings when using the stick and flashing lights to set the tail pre comp parameter. You have to use the USB dongle and software to get the variable tail torque pre comp setting.

You guys should try V 3.0.8 it does LOADS for the tail.  I run all of my birds on BeastX 3.0.8 and the tail issues are all gone.

Did some testing today with the new beastx software. Found no difference at all in the tail. iv also changed the tail compensation to user defined but its still kicking out. Do you think its the beastx not being about the keep up with such torque?

Check this thread on tail blade size vs. head speed.

http://synergyrchelicopters.com/forum/index.php?topic=265.0

Also, make sure you adjusted the tail comp in the Beast correctly. If tail goes right (nose left) you need more pre-comp. It's possible to go too far on the tail comp adjustment and then just not notice that the tail is actually kicking left. Lastly, if you are running a lot of pitch with a high watt motor nothing can keep the tail from kicking a little on a full pitch pump.

Could you have a vibration issue? I know you have probably checked for that.

Is your beastx strapped down tight? They like a very solid mount. Soft tape will mess with it.

Just thinking outside the box here. I have your same setup 2200 head and 106 tails. Tail is rock solid with beastx Pre comp and tail dynamic at stock setting and gain about 60% on my dx8.
