I had my first E5s running on 10s. Had some 10s packs from when I had a Furion 6. Used the scorpion 4025-650. Worked well. Just prefer a 6s on the E5.

This is something else to consider 10s versus 12s.  Above are Thunder Power batteries and prices. (not saying you have to go that route) But Im sure its probably pretty close with size and weight with others as well.  So going (2) 6s packs are lighter and cheaper than (2) 5s!  So check pricing, measurments and weight when considering your build. AND also think about how your wiring your packs (if you plan to shrink wrap them together to make a bar pack).  I run the power and negative down one side of the battery and the balance leads up the other side with the label facing up.  So in doing that it increases the overall width and the frames from inside left to right is 52mm on the E5.  So I ordered 2 TP 3300mah 65c packs and they ended up being 6-7mm too wide because I didnt acct for the wire thickness.  I could have ran the balance leads up and over the top of the packs and out the front but I'm a bit OCD and was thinking what would be safer in a crash...so I sold them and I'm tryin out Pulse Ultra 2600mah packs and doing it the way I do, its just narrow enough to fit in there nicely.  Either one of the 3 ways mentioned in this post is fine. You could go just 6s...depending on your flying style!

The 6S packs you listed are smaller than the 5S pack equivalents (3850 x 10 = 38500 and 38500/12 = 3200).  So 3200 would be a better comparison as they hold similiar energy.  Thunder power doesn't make 3200 but they do make a 3300 and those are 515 grams each and $179.99 each.  So, it doesn't look like the 12S setup is really any cheaper or lighter.

well what you are forgetting is the amp draw savings on 12s versus 10s.  More volts equals less amps.  You can run a smaller 12s and get the same flight time as the larger 10s setup.

Examples are more extreme on 6s to 12s, but the math holds true.

My E5 on 6s: 5000mAh Thor 65c = 4.5 minutes
My E5 on 12S: (2) 2700mAh 50C Optipower = 6 minutes

I don't know the weights off hand, but that still illustrates the difference in voltage.

I have 10s 4000mAh stick packs already along with a 4035-560 as well as everything else I need. I was just wondering if it would be a good fit?

That's the same motor I'm running on a 12S 600 E5.  I'm running the 12T pinion but if you threw the 14T pinion on there you would be OK I would think.  I guess it depends on your flying style but as long as 2000-2350 headspeed works for you (it certainly does for me which is why I'm running my 12T) then it'll be a perfect fit.  I'm running 12S 3000s at about 4.5 minutes - with those 4000s I would like you'll get 5 to 6 minutes depending on your flying again.

Thanks Chris!! I was providing tried and true options that ppl have used. Again the 3300's shrink wrapping them the way I do, will NOT fit, the balance clips literally at 1-2mm to wide keep the packs from sliding in.  So again with your 4000's it'll just have to be left up to a test fit.  OR route the wires differently than I do (over the top instead of down the side).  I'm just OCD about everything being snugged up to each other!! Hey worst case the 4000's dont fit and you have to get something else but either way whatever you go with-- 10s, 12s, or just 6s, it's one of the best 550/600's I've flown!! Good luck!
